Where is Dez?

Of course it is. But what got him paid was being a possession receiver. Making tough catches. He doesn't do that any more.
They had all the catches they wanted in the middle of the field. They didn't need that from Dez. Beasley was doing a better job at that than Dez would.

They need Dez to keep the middle open by pulling the safety out with him. When the safety comes into the middle and Dez has one on one coverage they need him to beat his man on the outside. He's not doing that.

He's the most expensive decoy in the NFL then.

Dak better learn to throw Dez open.

Also why can't we throw Dez a WR screen? He's a little like TO where we need to get him involved in the game early and let him feed on the energy that creates. Dez is best when he is physical and taking on DBs after the catch.

Elliot was pedestrian. Morris ran hard and actually gained yards today. He should've owned the second half.

Giants took Dez out of the game. Gave Dak Witten and Beasley singled but kept a safety over Dez. Dak looked, saw the coverage and looked underneath.

Dak was executing as a bus driver. He played about as well as anyone could reasonably hope he would.

Game planning makes a Yyyuge difference. They stopped the run and took away the deep ball. Make the rookie drive 15 plays to score and wait for him to make a mistake. He didn't, but he never broke through either.

Romo will throw into double coverage when he and Dez are clicking. Dak won't, and shouldn't.

Morris should be our starting running back until Elliot gets used to game speed.
Even if you try to take somebody out of the game..the player still has to make plays.

You can't have a $15 million decoy.

The adage with Dez has always been if you don't get him the ball early and get his head into the game..

he tends to fade.

This has been since he was a rookie.

So this is a real concern...

we continue to overpay players who do not produce to the level of their pay..

Romo and Dez head this list.

I think until they are gone..we are never going to improve.

DAK is looking good and Elliott will get back for us...

but our present team leaders are Leaderless.

Lee is fine but he won't last 16 games and I never even heard our budding FS AllPros name called all game.

That defense is morbid.

Game has changed. You can't touch receivers without a flag. Big, slow guys that use muscle more than anything aren't as useful. He's only getting slower. He ain't Julio fast.
Yes..early in his career his physical style was not being flagged..sort of like when Irvin played.

But the refs are calling things a lot closer and Dez is not nearly as effective.

Dez is always right next to the defender and being defensed easily.

I think we are financially too deep with that deal last year which I never wanted.

Now we are shoestrung with it.

I am tired of saying this which means some are tired of hearing it but Dallas is not same player pre-contract. Its just that simple. Not worth even debating anymore.

More times than not Dez just disappears. Big time players have to ball and he is so inconsistent. Don't blame Dak on this, it probably would have been the same if Romo is in.

If I recall we could only either sign Dez or Murray at that time. Letting both of them walk would have been hard to do with any fan base.

Some may think we should have let Dez, Murray and Romo roll out of here.

5 targets today.

Take a look at what other elite receivers got today. Double digit targets.

That's because their coaches actually feature them as weapons in their offense.

Our Boy Wonder offensive genius instead chooses to use Dez as a decoy, to free up the middle of the field for real talent like Cole Beasley.

Dez just doesn't seem to keep his head in the game if he's not the go too guy.
Dez will never be the team player Michael was or Witten is.

maybe our rookie QB making his first start didn't want to throw at someone being covered like a blanket

This thread is all types of nonsense.

No, but 1 catch for 8 yards is.

Seriously, how can a supposed top 5 WR not even have enough yards after the game to make a first down?

And its not like the Giants have shut down corners, they didn't have Revis out there.

You can scheme coverages to effectively not give a receiver like Dez clean looks, which was evident by the sheer number of targets both Witten (14) and Beasley (14) today.

Giants played it smart and I'd wager good money other teams follow suit. Witten is not going to beat you with 6-8 yard catches.

Fans want to try to oversimplify the game by thinking Dez simply wasn't getting open. The reality is the coverages the Giants were playing against Dez is what allowed Witten and Beasley all those looks.

I don't think Dez is smart enough to run a slant. I think Dez knows 1 or 2 routes and that's it. I don't think he can do anything more than that. If he can he has not shown it on the field.

Roy Williams ran slants, does it take brains?
