Back to that Broncos shootout game...

Romo's lone interception came when TWO Cowboys linemen tripped/blocked his footwork. Check it out yourself.

Very true but he could have thrown the check down to Murray before that and lived to fight another play.
Murray walked off the field shaking his hands in disgust because he was wide open with ground in front of him.
The decision to throw into coverage rather than hit the open man and take what the defense was giving you is what caused the interception.

Tell the whole story and show that part of the video

Are you familiar with the concept of read progressions?

A QB works through a sequence: look for this guy 1st. Then look for this guy 2nd...etc. On many plays "Checkdown" backs are at the end of the list (5th). If a QB only gets 2 or 2.5 seconds, he won't have time to read through progressions to get to option 4 or 5, as happened here.

It's common (and comical) how often fans (and even players!) assume that a QB can be looking two, three, four places at the same time. They can't! That's why they call it a progression.

And note: If I try to post a video the NFL will block it. I created and posted a short GIF (limited to a few seconds) as it is likely to avoid detection for at least a week.

I am Familiar with Romo having a bad habit of holding the ball too long sometimes it created a highlight film for him other times it was a heartbreaking disaster like the Denver game.
Stop with the defending it was a poor decision

Your reply makes one again wonder about your comprehension of a quarterbacks' progressions and how fundamental that is to every passing play. If you don't understand that, you are helpless to properly critique Quarterback play.

Progressions precede decisions. You do read one, then make a decision. You look at read two and then make a second decision. You look at read three and then a third decision. Etc. Romo's progression sequence never got to Murray.

Romo, matched if not outplayed Manning by any objective measurement (completion percentage, yards per pass, points, TDs per pass, interception avoidance) preceding the two plays I showed in GIFS. Sorry if it doesn't match your long held agenda.

Romo had the ball 2.5 seconds before the DT initiated contact with him. I have the clip in a video editor. Romo did extend plays, often with rich rewards. He sure wasn't holding the ball here...that's a SLANDEROUS LIE. And I think you know it.

Yep did the same thing on the dez no catch. Beasley was there underneath and could have ate up more clock

He had that gunslinging mentality that served him well sometime but also could be his undoing

You are a betrayer of Cowboys, all players #88, and the absolute truth to say 'no catch'.

The announcers, the stadium fans, and all of America said: 'That's a catch'. People couldn't even figure why it was reviewed.

So that's your troll game now, spit on the star to try to dawg Romo's legacy? (Dez says you a ____)

He held the ball way too long the play before which led to second and 16.
He always had to gamble just couldn't be satisfied with what the defense would give him control the ball and win the game.

Please save the whole progression nonsense you are a defender of Romo not a football analyst he couldn't even go through his progressions without seeing Murray who was directly in front of him wide open. So wide open in fact that he left the field in disgust ringing his hands.
That just tells you that Romo had to make a really bad decision for his teammate to react that way on the field on national television
Just stop with the defending and admit that his gambling mentality derailed what would have been a signature game against one of the best quarterbacks of all time.

Instead it was unfortunately just another in a series of disappointments

Romo won a lot of regular season games but only 2 games when it mattered. Nobody's changing my opinion on him. I watched him for a decade. Like I said he was a good QB. He's a good guy. I do think he's a great announcer. He's no better than our 3rd best QB. And I'm not even sure about that. Don't know why people want to make him into something he wasn't.
No individual player wins or loses a game. They only contribute to or hinder a win or loss more or less.

If you can show me an instance where it was Romo’s primary fault that the Cowboys could never achieve a SB victory, then I’m willing to concede that he was a QB that couldn’t get over the hump so to speak. Otherwise, it’s just a post facto he didn’t win, therefore he couldn’t win, which doesn’t follow because there could be many variables involved as has been shown, e.g., the average defenses, coaching, JJ pre-McClay, etc., that Romo got saddled with.

This is 100% true but some positions such as an NFL quarterback because of the amount that they handle the ball have a tremendous amount of influence over the game and a mistake by them at the wrong time sometimes makes it impossible for the rest of the team to overcome it.

I got it to play my bad it said it wouldn't play but when I kept clicking on it I got it to play good video I have watched it before and enjoyed .

Like I said before I have no hate for Romo and appreciate what he did and how he sacrificed his body.
But I will never put him on the same level as Roger staubach or give him his moniker of Captain comeback.

I watched both players careers in their entirety.
One was a very good quarterback and the other was a flat-out NFL legend that could not only rise to the occasion himself but inspire all the men around him to play way above their heads because of their belief in him
Fully agree. There's only one Roger. Forgive me if it appeared I was doing that. One thing I will do is keep trying to destroy this foolish notion all Romo did was choke.

Ya I thought it was a catch too at that time but it wasn’t called one so it wasn’t

You Romo rooters are a sickening bunch. Got an excuse for everything . I quit rooting for him the second he was replaced by Dak and I haven’t looked back. In fact I was happy he was too much on me . Feast or famine and sadly it hasn’t got much better with Dak

I blame Jerry for both . Now go back to your Romo posters and jerseys and such because I’m not the one to go back and forth with on it

I’m incredibly tired of over the top Romo fans on this site and other sites and you sir fit that bill.

Enjoy the 4th be safe

Wasn't it ruled a catch first?

Man, that must have been some phone call in the review booth with Goodell.

I rooted for Dak in 2016 and supported him as the starter over Romo. Romo's body was done.

I have supported Dak ever since. I'm an objective fan. And as an objective fan I place Romo equal or close to Roger and Aikman. Just didn't have great coach or team around him. Quarterbacks can never win big without it. Same for Dak.

Does that match your description of an "over the top Romo fan"?
Never had a Romo jersey or poster but may buy one in your honor.

Enjoy your holiday.

Retirement veen good for him. These people talk about him like he’s Brady all of a sudden.

you're entitled to your opinion inasmuch as I really loved Troy Aikman I'm may still put Roger stall back first but you know what I'm gonna do something just to annoy the haters

Roger, Tony, Troy, Dak, Danny.. This is my take I think he put Tony Romo on any of those teams that Roger and Troy had they'd still win those games and it really goes the same for Prescott really I mean since when did any of those guys you think are the top two ever have to go into the playoffs and carry their teams I watched those games that Troy played and in many of those games he was simply a bus driver he literally dinked and dunked the ball most plays and just relied on that awesome offensive line Emmitt Smith Hall of Fame coaching great defense many games he had under 200 yards maybe one touchdown yes he had better games he had some impressive games but for the most part if you hit they never asked Roger or Troy to play one handed one-dimensional football they always had the run game the the great game plans execution by the team the seemed to do it when it needed to be done most and if you really wanna put a knock on Roger why didn't he win more Super Bowls like I didn't watch every one of his games I'm too young for that I'm 53 and I'm from New York New Jersey area so we didn't watch a lot of cowboy football I started being a cowboy fan in 1980 when we moved to Texas and I watched that first Danny white game what was it the 1981 NFC championship game with the catch that's literally my first game I might have remembered watching the whole thing and remembering just I don't know I became a fan even though they lost...

But again it's a team game and I believe that Tony Romo and Prescott are good enough that if they had the same exact scenarios you just switch pouit the qbs, its very p[ossble nothing changes all of them were very good.. the difference was the Teams and the coaching staffs were simply better for Roger and Troy. I'm not saying they don't deserve the credit they're getting but growing up watching every single game Troy played watching those playoff games with all that talent he didn't have to do a lot I mean look at that second Super Bowl against Buffalo I watched that again the whole entire thing last week when they showed it hey literally was thinking and dunking the ball they were down at halftime by a score they come out in the second-half and the defense immediately gets them a touchdown and then they come out and he dinkin, dunks his way down the field and Emmitt Smith carries it like 10 times and they score again he did nothing special to get that game back ahead. And don't say he made less mistakes and he was smarter because he had only 165 touchdowns and 141 interceptions that's pretty average touchdown interception ratio that's not very good given the team that he was on keep that context look at what he played with and who he played for and if you look at it in that context that's kinda very average.
We must consider the HCs too. Landry RIP wouldn't put up with Tony's INTs just like he didn't with Pelluer's.

Jimmy wouldn't even let Romo on the field. Jimmy was about cerebral and pedigree players. Romo had neither.

Romo with Troy's teams wins 4 or 5 Super Bowls.

1. Staubach
2. Romo
3. Meredith
4. Aikman
5. White
6. Prescott
7. Morton
8. Bledsoe
