Where would Dak go in the draft today?

Very, very true. But so far, all he's shown is that that pro-ready. That's very different than having #1 overall upside. I'm not saying your wrong, but the upside could still be a question.
The hypothetical is if the draft took place right now. 2 teams gave up a lot of picks to get their franchise QB. If they had the luxury of seeing all QB's play preseason games before, than the Rams would definitely take Prescott #1. I don't understand.how anyone could disagree.

In a hypothetical world where the NFL re-drafts after pre-season (today), where do you think Dak would go?

He would go to where the draft is held. This past year it was Chicago and next year it is in Philly

Re draft based on preseason? Sheesh that's early.

Is it? Think about how much the combine moves the needle. And the Senior Bowl. You don't think seeing rookies against NFL-type talent in game settings for 4 games changes the way teams view players?

Hell, teams are basing the final 10-15 spots on their rosters based largely on these preseason games.

Lynch and Dak have looked way better than Goff and Wentz. Definitely an interesting question. I think Lynch and Dak would go high in the first, but I have reservations about saying they'd go 1-2 overall.

Especially at QB, scouts project further out to predict value.

They undershot Dak by a ton, for sure.
But he is 23 years old and had been a starting QB for 4 years in the SEC.
So maturity, poise, and leadership wise, he should be ahead of younger guys like the 21 year old Goff .
And then Lynch came from a smaller conference and Wentz, of course, cam from a REALLY small conference.

I was not a big fan of any of those three 1st rounders compared to some.
But from a scouts view, they may, for example, be comparing Dak two years ago to Goff now with the hope that Goff grows as much as Dak has. Just saying, much of this is future viewing and not immediate gratification.

If Dak still looks impressive after the Giants game, every team that took a quarterback before us will wish had drafted Dak instead. I hate that Tony is hurt again, but this thing with Dak is very intriguing. I can't wait to see if he is the real deal in the regular season. If he is, what a STEAL. I mean, we got Tony as a free agent and if our next franchise quarterback comes from a 4th round compensatory pick that will be amazing.

Sunday cannot get here soon enough!

Right now before the 4th, maybe the 1st.

However, Dak hasn't looked near the player in practice, if these reports are relevant this could get ugly, fast. Of course with our excellent Coaching staff probably ... CHAMPIOSHiiiiP!

I do think his stock has shot up big time after the pre-season. If it was a mild performance one way or the other, I don't think it would move the needle much. But he crushed it and looked really good doing. The poise and confidence he showed are things you can't teach. I mean, who would have guessed that he was so much more pro-ready than Goff. Goff was supposed to step in and move the sticks.

I think the Rams are regretting trading what they traded to get Goff.

They have to be. Especially when so much of the appeal was that he was "pro-ready". I mean, if you draft Wentz and he struggles, no big deal. It's a big jump in competition and his value was in his upside. But Goff...ugh.

Right now based on what we have seen. Dak would be a top 5 pick, and Lynch would be a top 10. They have both outperform Wentz and Goff who have both been failures till this point.

Last University of California QB drafted in the 1st round was also 21 years old when he was drafted. He also looked like he was in over his head his first couple of years in the league. He has a 39 QB rating his rookie year and a 48 QB rating his 2nd year in the league.

His name was Aaron Rodgers.

Until these rookie QBs play real regular season games, I don't think anybody is questioning their decision too much.

If Dak were a tree, what kind of a tree would he be? I think that is the only Dak thread that hasnt been started yet.
I don't know, but he would be a tree in the "Rayne" forest, I'll bet...

Very good point. Thank you for reminding me of this. That said, Russell Wilson was 24 and started for 4 seasons, after redshirting. That said, you're right that we should likely temper expectations.
