Where would Dak go in the draft today?

Until these rookie QBs play real regular season games, I don't think anybody is questioning their decision too much.

We're talking about the #1 overall pick here. His advantage over Wentz was that he was pro ready. It's certainly too early to write him off, but there's no way they can feel as good about him as they did when they drafted him.

Probably moves in the late 2nd, early 3rd round.

8 quarters of pre-season play isn't going to change things that much for these rookie QBs.

8 quarters of NFL preseason play is worth way more than combine results. Goff had a lot of starts and was a solid performer in a power 5 conference...hard to value that comparison. Wentz basically started for a little over 1 season at an fcs school...I'd say this preseason is definitely worth more than that.

lol

I don't think ESPN does their main re-draft until 3-4 years later.

True, but this isn't so much about the re-draft as it is about how much one player improved his stock. The redraft is just a hypothetical vehicle to measure it.

Nobody has improved their stock more than Dak...and by a long shot.

Even if Dak has a better rookie season, it doesn't mean he'd be selected ahead of Goff, Wentz, and Lynch.
Just because a player takes longer to develop doesn't mean his ceiling isn't still higher.

On another note, based on Tony Romo's first two years in the NFL, he'd probably still go undrafted in a redraft. :)
Every football position, every draft position, and every individual drafted or signed as UDFA still requires a few years to know whether or not that draft position was correct. Let's say Dak outperforms Wentz for his entire rookie contract and takes us to the playoffs twice, but later Wentz becomes Aaron Rogers with two Lombardies and multiple NFL MVP's....we wouldn't say that Dak should have been drafted ahead of him.

Goff will be the first #1 pick not to start week 1 since Jemarcus Russell, who was holding out. He got beat out by Case freaking Keenum, folks.

First. Goff is not looking good. People keep saying the vanilla blah and he's had the same conditions. NFL player, obviously, are another level of skill and talent. Preseason or not and so far he's been exposed while Dak has been nearly perfect.

If they knew what we know now I think first. Some had him as the top QB going into the college season last year.

We got lucky and we deserve it. It's for the good of the country.

Yup, bit other can't look decent playing vanilla defenses.

True but I'm going to wait until he walks on water, parts the Red Sea or plays in a couple of games with real bullets flying before I crown him ..

What better evaluation tool you going to get than seeing him best NFL first stringers at a rate better than any other rookie QB by a wide margin?

He's the best QB in the rookie class right now. Most of the research leading up to the draft if to answer the question we've just answered. Seriously, what GM is going to take any other QB in front of Dak seeing what we've seen this month? No way.

I don't think that's accurate. I mean, Lynch and Wentz were drafted for their upside, not their week 1 value. I could certainly see plenty of GMs thinking they have a higher upside than Dak. Wentz especially. I love Dak, but I'd trade him for Wentz personally. Not Lynch, but I was never a huge Lynch fan.

I am too. But we're comparing him only to other players in the exact same situation here. There's no telling how any of these guys play when the bullets start flying. But compared to the other rookie QBs, well, this is not really a tough call.

The panic attack and wholesale farm selling by the Rams and Eagles is what seemed silly from the get-go.
If those two pan out though, it'll be worth it. But most scouts did not have them rated THAT highly.

But again, 4-5 years from now they both might be Pro Bowlers for all we know.

Dak has the head start right now off his amazing pre-season, his age, and/or his big school seasoning. It doesn't mean 3-4 years from now they won't be better.

Value-wise, Dallas seems, at this early stage, to have hit it out of the park.
