Which Head Coach that is available is better than Garrett right now?

You’re overstating the quality of the rest of the team. Those defenses were worse than the QB was good in 2011 and 2012. It was an accomplishment to have something to play for in week 17 those seasons.

The 2013 team, I’d maybe agree with you.

I thought the 2013 team was one of garretts best coaching jobs to date. That team was killed with injuries. I think there were like 17 or 18 defensive lineman used that season alone. At the begining of the year, I thought that was a 10-11 win team, but after that many injuries, getting 8 wins was a miracle and a really good coaching job. the 2011-2012 teams were not good teams, they were ok, average and the record reflected that, if the rest of the division had any good teams those years, we would have been done by week 14. It's amazing what a talent at QB can do for a team. I would kill to have that talent with today's team.

Agree to disagree. The league is setup specifically to get games like the ones you’re describing. Form everybody.

We won our fair share of them, and lost our share of them. But that 2011 squad was pretty mediocre overall. Just look at the longevity of the bulk of those players for an indication how talented they were. Or weren’t.
But we were competitive against the very best teams in the league. We weren't outclassed. We had our shot. Romo and those other good players you referred to gave us that shot, just like Brady and the other good players on NE gave them a shot. Good players should create opportunities for your team and we had our opportunities. Now we need a find a way to take advantage of them instead of throwing them away and finding that acceptable because we believe the team isn't good enough to win it all. Giants fans didn't believe they were good enough in 2007 or 2011 but the team got hot at the right moment.

True but you must have some talent in the right places to find that surge or hotness like NY pass rush made a surge and IMO was the difference. But they had some talent there. And Eli made some clutch plays in playoffs and SB.

Our situation I believe was too folded. One the talent we did have like Romo didn’t have his best games on the biggest stages and we lacked better talent in other key positions on defense.

Even in 2014 and 2016 with two of our best teams this era both of those didn’t come up big enough in playoffs. Now whether we want to point to coaching or players is pure speculation. Bottomline is we didn’t make enough plays to win.

And until you have a team that does come thru it’s only natural to question if they are enough without more evidence.

If I’m understanding you right, you’re saying Garrett didn’t a great job to keep a questionable roster against the very best teams in the league without getting outclassed. Even with those terrible defenses. Maybe that’s overstating things a bit, but I can see why you’d feel that way.

Yes, but this started talking about how we were lucky to have been there because we had some good players that made our team appear to be better than they were.

Speaking of the Giants, did the NY pass rush make the Giants team better than they actually were?

My original point is that's what good players do. They make their team better than they are, and they do that for every team. So when someone claims Romo made the team better than it was, well no duh. Drew Brees makes New Orleans better than they would be. JJ Watt makes the Texans better than they would be and the same could be said for all the other good players because that is what good players do...they make their teams better.

No, I'm really claiming that good players make teams better. It's not just a phenomenon on the Cowboys. Our good players gave us a shot, like other team's good players gave them a shot.

I dont want to start another bash garret or who's going to be the next Head coach...

but I was thinking about this today, who's available and who's better than him right now at where he's at... I know he's been learning on the job.... most people do in this day and age, but looking at College coaches they have to learn Pro game... looking at coordinators they have to learn how to be a head coach. looking at Retreads, they have to learn how the game is played today...

so my question is simple Who could replace him & be better than him right now where he's at today with this franchise.
Belichick’s run of success with the Pats has made his assistant coaches hot names. Weis, Mangini & Crennel left NE for lucrative head coaching jobs. We know Patricia wasn't going to hang around much longer after that SB loss.

McDaniels might be too hot to touch with his handling of the Colts’ debacle, but would Jerry care? No. He would want a coach who can help Dak the most. McDaniels is at the top of the list of playcallers in the NFL. If Garrett doesn't take this team to the playoffs, I just don't see Jerry being patient anymore with his HC. Get McDaniels Jerry, get him NOW!

Exactly. I agree with last paragraph. But that talent still needs good situations. Its how a Steve Young becomes HOF after going to SF from Tampa.

It’s why so many talented QB drafted early struggle going to bad teams with unfavorable situations. They can help elevate the team but need support to build their confidence and performance.

The NY pass rush elevated that team IMO down the stretch. And Eli played clutch. It was both. It’s always a combination of factors.

Yep.. the NFL is a talent driven league.

Great coaching contributes building a team in their image but ultimately the talent makes the difference . All a coach can do is place them in the best position to succeed.

Lol...just as you fail to understand football, you fail to comprehend...lol
Where have you seen cursing, ranting, or insults....lol
The facts are a 1-7 record is a bad record, 5-3 is just above average, and 6-10 is a bad team...lol those are the facts, and what any real football person would understand.

Yep, 1-7 is a bad record. But when the team goes 5-3 without its franchise QB, its pretty obvious that it was simply a matter of injuries and coaching. The team he inherited was plenty talented.

Little too complicated for you I guess. Poor guy.

Those are speculative situations often difficult to determine with absolute certainty.

We can all spin the facts to support our narrative.

My hunch is the 11-6 team was depleting after several years of poor drafts under Wade and 2011 was probably a closer measurement to the team we had with Romo playing entire season.

No hunch needed. The oline had some big injuries to start the season. Then Romo went down and Garrett was fumbling and panicking the play calling like never before. Hence 1-7.

Again, that’s pure speculative account after Romo went down as we were already 1-4 with Romo in there. The only time in Romo era we had a losing record with him starting.

Lol....no it’s not obvious, it’s only obvious to you because it fits your agenda, all teams have talent that don’t make you a good team, Cleveland has a wealth of talent, but nobody in their right mind will call them a good team...lol at least you do admit JG did some good coaching.

The biggest change between 1-7 and 5-3 was the coaching staff. Not sure what more needs to be said. Obviously the team had talent, but one staff utilized it better than the other.

Injuries arent speculation. And Romo has gone 1-4 during stretches before.

Garrett went 1-4 with Romo the last five games of the very next year to miss the playoffs. Only team they beat in that stretch was the pathetic quitting Bucs who knew Raheem Morris was out the door.

2010 is only season Romo had a losing record in games he started.

The team Garrett took over went 5-3. Hence proof it was not really a 1-7 team. And again, without Romo. So you can keep cursing, ranting, and insulting, but the facts are killing you.
so then Wade must have been really craapy coach? how do you get to 1-7? either bad team or bad coach...or both
