Those are speculative situations often difficult to determine with absolute certainty.

We can all spin the facts to support our narrative.

My hunch is the 11-6 team was depleting after several years of poor drafts under Wade and 2011 was probably a closer measurement to the team we had with Romo playing entire season.
not only the talent was depleting, the culture was depleting. wade did a lot of damage to this team as a head coach. he was hand gifted a good team, on the way up, hard working and the right culture and he proceeded to flush it down the toilet.....he was as bad as Campo IMO....campo started with nothing, added nothing, ended up with nothing. wade was handed a good team, depleted it, instead of doing nothing and created a losing culture that culminated in 2010

This is THE YEAR in my eyes as far as Garrett goes...............All the All-Pro holdovers from the last decade are gone (Romo , Dez , Witten , etc.) , and have been replaced by youngsters..................This is the season we will see how good or not good our head coach is , what with the talent upgrade on the defensive side of the ball and a great draft pick in this season's second round to bring our O-Line back to its top tier status........................

Yep, 1-7 is a bad record. But when the team goes 5-3 without its franchise QB, its pretty obvious that it was simply a matter of injuries and coaching. The team he inherited was plenty talented.

Little too complicated for you I guess. Poor guy.
you claim that team was talented..... that's very broad statement. who was talented on that team? Romo was injured, so there goes the top talent. if you claim something. you have to back it up.

Yep

Actually in today’s social media climate you can claim anything without backing it up.

2010 is only season Romo had a losing record in games started.

If I say it enough maybe it will sink in.

1-4 isnt a season in case you didnt notice. Its only 5 games. that is a called a "stretch" of games.

It had enough talent to go 11-6 the year before. OR was Wade a great coach?

IT had enough talent to go 5-3 under Garrett without Romo. With Romo, it was playoff roster.

Each season the roster is tweaked so it’s difficult to say.

But in 2010 we can say Wade was 1-7 and 1-5 with Romo starting. Garrett was 5-3 without Romo. Those are facts.

Now we can spin those facts to support an agenda. I’d say Garrett made the most of a bad situation.

yep and Wade was strapped with a HC/OC who had no experience at all. Wade wanted to bring in Dan Reeves to train boy wonder, but no Jason went crying to daddy, so how many years have passed with Jerry having to train boy wonder... How many players career was wasted waiting on boy wonder to learn how to be a coach and read the defenses. Oh yeah he's got Jerry's ear... that's something to be proud off... we're irrelevant but "jason has jerry's ear".. who else could we bring in who would "have jerry's ear" uuum maybe some guy who cleans the toilets. his nickname could be hit or miss from cleaning up all the pee from guys missing the toilets.
when they do jason's bio on tv, maybe they can play the agony of defeat video of the skier missing his jump on ABC sports old show... and just keep it in a loop while talking about Jason.

Had Art Briles not "looked the other way" he would be my choice. Dude can coach football. Innovative, and his teams are exciting. When the whole sideline would start jumping up and down before a kickoff was intimidating IMO. I hate Baylor but the dude made me respect them and become an outside fan a lot.

That bowl game where he had lost he top 2 starting QB's and he totally changed the game plan around to a power running team and rushed for like 500 yards was one of the most impressive things I've seen in football in awhile.

It really is a shame he looked the other way. He's not really the person he's made out to be IMO.

So a team that was 11-6 the previous year all of a sudden lost all this talent? Weak, very weak. NO, they just had injuries and bad coaching. They were 1-4 and lost Romo in game 6, hence the additional loss in that game. Then lost the next two without their franchise QB. Bad stretch, that is all it was. Garrett inherited a playoff caliber team that went on a bad stretch and lost their QB. Nothing more.
