Every competent offense they played *with Haskins as QB blowing the game. 70 total passing yards against the Rams. 5 turnovers against the browns. Multiple turnovers against both the giants and the cardinals. But with Smith THEY were the team that first beat 11-0 Pittsburgh. And they came as close to beating The Bucs in the playoffs as GB did.

You can spin it any way you like, but when Haskins was in, even their D was dreadful because when he wasn’t going 3 and out, he was handing the opponents the ball in WAS territory. Having a QB this year who can put up points will be transformative for both sides of the ball.

Pittsburgh sucked, Rodgers sucked in that playoff game.

WFT was a product of their schedule and nothing else. Fitz is a mild improvement over Haskins in that he should move the ball better - but they don't really have any weapons and he's just as turnover prone as anybody. It's not like they're a legit contender in the NFC, or anywhere close it.

well, no one in the nfc East is close to that, and no one is saying they are. That’s not the basis for this thread

The Cowboys absolutely are a contender. Outside of the Chiefs, they probably have the best passing offense in football.

There is no team without flaws in a cap league, and passing offense is what makes teams competitive in the modern game. Dallas has that.

Yes, you had that too in 2019 and finished 8-8. It takes a heck of a lot more than that to be one of the top teams. Your defense was abhorrent last year, and while you changed some names, actually improving them to the level of being “fixed” will take years

I'm not sure if you're attempting to mock me or form some sort of an alliance....

I'm good with either, just trying to be clear.

But uh, yeah....team kool aid has seats available on the wagon.

We get to say I told you so the loudest when we win it all.

Yes, our offense make us competitive .

But to place us as SB contenders like the Chiefs is quite a stretch and unproven.

Do we have potential . Maybe but we haven’t been a consistent SB contender to place us in that category.

I’m not even sure we’d be favored to win any other division than NFCE?

It's all on paper and based on the come that the additions, including the DC, are going to come to fruition.

I feel good about it so that's all that matters for now.

There are reasons to feel encouraged and I cannot say that applies to the years past.

I think the fans are more mentally fragile than the team is.

And we all know a new defensive scheme with several new players will take a while to gel, much less play well. Patience and Go Cowboys.

I mean, everyone is potential at this point. I don't think the Cowboys are as good as the Chiefs, but the best team doesn't win the Super Bowl every year, and they have the same question marks on defense as Dallas does, if not more (can't rush the passer). Outside of KC, especially in the NFC, there aren't teams with more potential than Dallas.

Consistency, or lack thereof, in previous years doesn't mean much - and outside of GB that'd be true for every other team in the NFC as well anyway.

Here’s a Weird flex, but Eagles have far and away best Vegas odds of winning their division of any last place team. Probably says more about the East, but sometimes you have to find positives in the smallest of places.

I don't keep up with other teams like I do the Cowboys, so I don't feel qualified to answer the question without being a bit of a homer. I know the Cowboys should be much improved.

Seattle has not had even a .500 record since they drafted Wilson. Only winning, and have been more consistent than even GB who’s had down stretches. They went 12-4 last year in a brutal division and have a very young team. They could very well be even better this year and have more potential than Dallas.

LAR just took the greatest defense on planet Earth, combined the 11th ranked offense in the league and paired them with the QB who is on pace to be the most prolific of all time (already the most passing yards of any QB through age 33). Whether or not you believe he’s at the top of the league at the position, it’s not difficulty to accept that he’s a dramatic upgrade over what Goff was doing last year… and that 11th ranked offense with Goff is the worst McVay has resided over in 6 years! They’ve got phenomenal potential this year, more so than Dallas.

TB went 11-5 last year, 2 of their losses to The NO Saints whom they conquered in the playoffs. Take Brees off that team, and Brady a year to gel with his teammates, that could very well be a 14-15 win team in a 17 game season. Especially with their defense they have a lot more potential than Dallas.

And then there’s Green Bay. They’ve won 26 games the last 2 years and have made back to back NFCCGs. If Aaron leaves, they’re a bust yes. But with Aaron they’re still at the top of the pack, as he had maybe the greatest regular season in NFL history last year. Dallas does not have better potential than them.

In a previous thread, you said you expected Dallas to make the Super Bowl. That’s not in the land of reality (at least this year)

If we stay healthy we will be much improved
If the defense can be average we will win the division

Not reading all that. Dallas has a better passing offense than all of those teams except maybe GB and that's pretty much the only factor that matters in determining potential.

Yea go ahead and quote me, because there's no way I said that unless you're taking it out of context. The only thing I've said about this team is that they have the potential to contend for it.

Passing offense does not make a team a contender. 2019 Cowboys prove that.

Of the top 10 pass offenses in 2020, 7 missed the playoffs altogether! That’s a very ignorant basis of defining the contention of a team.

Yes it does. The 2019 Cowboys were not a good passing offense bc Jason Garret refused to be.

Doesn't matter, making the playoffs isn't a barometer, especially not last year, and total yards isn't a metric that matters. The final 4 teams were all in the top 8 in y/a and 3 of them were in the top 4 in passer rating. They were all in the top 5 of passing EPA/play and top 7 passing success rate.

If you can throw the ball you are a contender. If you can't, you're not. It's very simple
