Which would you rather...?

This is a fan message board. We like talking about these kinds of things because they are... fun.

How annoying would it be to show up in every thread and end it with "unless the Cowboys win the Super Bowl, it's all meaningless"?

Who should be the backup RB? Unless the Cowboys win the Super Bowl, it's all meaningless!
Is Jason Garrett the right man for the job? Unless the Cowboys win the Super Bowl, it's all meaningless!
What a great catch by Dez for a touchdown! Unless the Cowboys win the Super Bowl, it's all meaningless!

I mean, we can discuss things without it all pointing back to the Super Bowl. Why so serious?

I said nothing of a SB but again lets say Romo wins the MVP and Dallas is bumped out in 1st rd of the playoffs really do you think the critics will back off? I know this is a message board and I gave my view. These individual awards for this team is not going to quite anyone down as far as the critics it will be yet another failure

If I had to pick, it would probably be Romo... Nobody has gotten more flack than Romo inthe past.

Can confirm, EnR so legit, anyone who pays attention knows that's not what's up here.

I go with Romo. Ware is first ballot and DMVPs are notoriously stupid. Bob Sanders? James Harrison? Um others? Made for flash in the pan players who have a good season here or there/take enormous amounts of PEDs.
Can confirm, superpunk not legit. I hear he wears pantyhose.

Answer to thread: Romo.

But for the sake of this thread, Romo, because he has received so much more unwarranted criticism than Ware has. Ware seems to get a lot of respect in nearly all circles.

I agree but as you point out as well it is just more ammo for the Romo critics, yes he can put up great numbers in the reg season we have seen that the issue is if he can't win no award will take away the wrath of the critics. Myself I don't think that is fair but it is an honest assesment

I appreciate your thoughts, but truly, an MVP is the second best thing besides winning a Super Bowl trophy. It means you were the best player in the NFL for an entire season. It's something that can never be taken away, something always attached to that player's name. I do think it would shut up a lot of critics. Or, at the very least, give their ammunition much less muscle.

Probably for the same reason you, somehow felt it was a good idea to start this thread and pretty much bait everybody into another useless argument over Romo by saying what you say? You surely have to know that all that will do is start more arguments.
Trollolololololololololololol.

Demarcus Ware, quite possibly the most dominant defensive player of his era, finally winning a Defensive MVP...

...or Tony Romo winning the MVP to finally shut up all his critics?

And in this scenario, neither answers affects our team's win/loss tally. This is purely for the sake of the individual--- Ware, long our best Cowboy finally winning something he's long deserved, or Romo winning something to prove he's elite?

Simple....Given the microscope that Romo is under there is no way Romo wins an MVP unless we win the SB.

It is an award for reg season play but the issue is he can't win the big games if Dallas fails it will be dumped on Romo as it has and no reg season numbers or award is going to change that. I understand the award and what it is given for but fact is Romo is one of a very few who has never posted a season with a below 90 rating and that means what? nothing to the critics and the MVP would mean about as much. He will never get the credit he deserves until this team wins.

Derrick Rose has had one great season in the NBA and then basically took two years off. Yet, because of that one (undeserved) MVP, he still has a ton of respect amongst NBA writers and fans. People, whether it be analysts or fans, get a glow in their eye when someone is named MVP of a sport.

That is fine and good but for the critics of Romo unless he has a ring like Troy and Roger that award will mean nothing. Romo is held to a different standard the Cowboys are held to a different standard right or wrong. As Sapp put it in Dallas you are either Danny White or Roger Staubach.

Well, if Romo were to win an MVP, there sure would be a lot of posters disappear around here or come out and say they believed in him all along!

Danny White never won an MVP.

I equate it to being an OU fan. We expect to compete for a National Championship every single season. And Jason White and Sam Bradford never won one, though they each got close. But each won a Heisman Trophy, so they are still legends in the minds of Sooners fans, even though they came up shorter than Josh Heupel and Jamelle Holieway.

I don't think Romo critics will back off unless or until this team win and no individual award will change that. MVP is a reg season award Romo has put up great reg season but the criticism comes when we lose post season. MVP without post season success will not back off any of the critics. Critics are quick to point out QB in Dallas are judged by SB. I don’t agree with that but it is the mindset I have seen and heard from the critics of Romo

If Romo were to win the MVP it would be hard to imagine the team not having one helluva year. So it's Romo for that reason.

Ware as defensive MVP and I want it so bad I'd pick him to get two before Romo gets one, only because he is so deserving and I think he was clearly robbed once before. Ware is the best defensive player of this decade. Romo, as much as I love him, has never done enough to be MVP, I'd love if he did, but Ware deserves it badly.

I tend to agree with you about Ware, but, IMO, he is bound for the HOF...Romo not as of yet if ever, so that is why it would be nice to award the guy for what he does because without Romo on this team the Cowboys would suck Royally, however, the haters don't realize how important the "choker" is.

The correct answer is Romo. We will go deeper in he playoffs with Romo playing at that level.

Romo winning MVP means we would be in the playoffs and possibly SB. Ware has been playing at MVP level for years and look where that's took us. I'll take Romo.
