Who does Miles Austin remind you of?

Body builds are totally different but there is something similar about their style - the way they catch the ball, maybe.
It's the fluidity of their movement. They're both so smooth in everything they do.

TO. lol. seriously he was like a mentor to all those guys while he was here. He reminds me of to with a little less speed and more strength. No suprise why he reminds you of rice who did to learn from. torch is passed?

Ah, I am now connecting the dots. And there is truth to it all. Very good point. I never thought of that.

:clap2:

Great point.

That could be it. They both almost seem to run through the ball when they catch it - just so smooth.

I have always thought that he reminded me of a faster Hines Ward. Even though I hate the Steelers I would love it if he became for the Cowboys what Hines Ward has become for the Steelers.

I think both of you are on to something. Fluidity, style...and I'd also add the way Rice, TO and Austin RAC.

And They come from the same intrinsic background, which is something I never thought of with Rice and TO. I knew that; it just didn't pop into my head.

I'd be really curious of the extent to which they all influenced each other and, starting with Rice, who coached them and trained them.

These three players all have one thing in common that is strikingly different from most NFL WRs, or players for that matter... work ethic.

Does anyone know the historical background here? I really do see some sort of connection now.

I thought Miles was the one receiver who avoided TO.

no.

Im not nors either. I cannot reveal my true identity but it doesnt matter now., jk

After reading thread IMO he is a blend of TO with his shape speed / strength . And he just runs routes like Glenn.

Imo he took alot from those guys. And came into his own.

Miles Austin is a hybrid between Jerome Bettis and a Chevy Silverado.

With that grill of his, better make it a Dodge Ram.

I think that Miles Austin is a repeat of San Diego's Jackson two years ago, just before he took that next step and became top shelf fully...I think that Austin will add a little bit to his top even yet.

ok.....but hes faster than TO...just correcting that

I think Roy Williams needs to watch that video. I love Irvin's competitiveness.

I don't see Sharpe. Sharpe seemed more like a TE than Austin does.

I think the Andre Reed comparisons are spot on.

I think the Jerry Rice comparisons hold water, mainly because he came out of nowhere to be the best receiver in history. Who knows where Austin could end up?

And he does remind me of Ward in his attitude and constant smile.

Overall, Andre Reed is the closest that I can think of.

Yeah. Andre Reed is the guy i would say Miles compares most favorably to of all the guys mentioned in this thread.

Miles does not remind me of anyone, may shades of TO but Miles time returning kicks has turn him into something very unique. His run after the catch looks like a kick off return. There aren't too many WR(s) that have RB vision after catching the football. His size, speed, and his ability to sell his routes are also a thing of beauty. What is more exciting is he is still growing as a WR. Barring injuries, the kid has hall of fame talent.

Let's not get to ahead of ourselves on this just yet, but i will say he is still raw and the upside is tremendous he has all the tools to succeed.
