I'm not from the metroplex, so I could root for other laundry under different circumstances. But let me clarify, the Dallas Cowboys still exist in this scenario, but they suck with Drew Bledsoe as QB, the same players on the team as you know it are on the Ft. Worth Galaxy or the Washington Commanders, it doesn't really matter. Who you going to root for?

Well if the Cowboys are still in there, then yes I'm still rooting for the Cowboys cause thats who I'm a fan of.

I'm sure, however, that would still be plenty of people who would root for the Ft. Worth team cause that would be there team. That has to explain where there are people who actually root for teams like Philly, Washington, Atlanta, and Oakland when they could just all be rooting for Dallas instead. :)

Yes, but you are rooting for the laundry, the players could be different and you would still root for the laundry. That was my point.

so when you can find a player who can manage a $100+ million dollar payroll, handle legal and government issues, promote the stadium and team in general, and lobby for new funds from the city of their choice ALL WHILE taking a snap and throwing/catching/running for a TD or simply "running into each other" then great.

till then all pieces are required.

Your opinion is all over the place. You say players deserve that money when they can do the owner's job. Then with that logic the owner's deserve their money when they can perform on the field.

i said years ago it's going to pay per view and if salaries and so forth escalate to the point where a family of 4 can't even take their kids to the game w/o taking out a loan, they're in deep doo doo.

we've got time still, but the current path isn't conducive to long term happiness and sooner or later the money train is going to end and the SHOW ME THE MONEY players are gonna go ballistic.

When they go pay per view I start watching something else

That's why you got crapy players ok with who they are. They make enough manoey so it doesnt matter. Be a average no namer and you'll never need to work again.

Back in the day it mattered...These guys make to much money, way to much.

the soldier is in a voluntary unit. He does not make anyone money. But go ask Blackwater soldiers how much they make.Thats because they protect a companies investments and they get paid in proportion to what the company makes.

Again if they make less that means owners make more. And thats OK.

Because prices are not set by the players but by the MARKET(DEMAND). Just like your property value when you sell it is determined by what other people in your area were willing to pay(MARKET). The demand of wanting to live in that area. Or the value of your stock is determined by the MARKET.

These contract signing's are sick. A scrub is making what Troy Aikman's monster contract was in the 90s. This is what ruins sports. It happened in baseball, basketball, and hockey that lead them all to work stoppages. I always thought football was the best with the early cap. The good players got paid and the scrubs got minmums. That Kelly guy from then Raiders, he would of got probably only a million bucks a year in the mid 90's. I hope the NFL isnt going down that path like other sports. I have a solution.

No player can make more than 8 million per season[includes bonuses] and can only have one of them on your roster. Fair. No player can make less than 700 k a year. The cap is at 70 million and doesnt move. On the other end, the owners can only make so much money as well, like a 50-50 split between owners and players. Then, the rest of it goes to the retirement of these players and charity. Only in a perfect world.

The NFL is still nowhere as near and will never be as bad as the NBA or Baseball. Don't forget The NBA and Baseball have guaranteed Contracts, the NFL doesn't.

Compared to the man on the street, they do make too much money.

However, when you consider how much money they MAKE FOR DA MAN, their salaries are relatively meager.

It's all a matter of perspective.

8 year 102 million dollars meager i think not.

I'm sorry bout when i see people my age or younger than me making 30 million dollars because they can catch a ball better than me or run faster than me i feel its sickening. We all went to college in order to increase our finacial wealth. It's ridiculous to think that there salary is all right based on what they do providing entertainment cool. However in the grand scheme of life they really don't do anything they not cops doctors or teachers. What about the football players that can't read or write. The ones that are getting pushed ahead because they are really good at football. Then is the educational system that are failing these kids however since they barely get paid they barely care. The football players thats breezes through with out being able to read but can sign that check for x amount of millions. When they try to sell children on going to college and reading is fundamental and all the other stuff but if you can catch kick or throw a ball then your suddenly above all of that.

Who cares what the players make. If it was not going into their pockets then it would go to ownership. The money is earned people; its not like they are stealing it to pay these contracts.

Look sorry you feel that way, but owners pay because their players put people in seats and create demand. Football is only king in America. Because if it was as simple as you said then NFL Europe players would create the same demand or AFL players make as much as NFL players.

The NFL product is good, which is made by past and current players with the marketing from the owners(NFL).

The product is so good that ESPN gets good ratings on the draft.

You think AFL players demand NFL money. NO

To make big money like an NFL player you need to help generate someone the kind of money players help generate.

For example: You generate millions of dollars for your company and your boss is willing to compensate you comparable to what you generated.

Plus on a financial note: you don't become rich(million dollar contracts) by being a W2 employee.

maybe - or maybe you're just catching bits and pieces and putting together your own vision. : )

i implied that yes, but sarcasm is a wonderful tool. my point is that the owners and management and so forth are needed also. yes, the players make the owners look good but the owners give them the opportunity to do so.

but both are a side-argument to my main point.

greed is going to kill this game. ticket prices can only go so high. numbers of people watching on TV - if remains consitent - will only bring in a finite $ in the end.

so what's next? when you've got players clamoring for more millions than the last guy, where will it come from?

higher ticket prices? what's too high for you now?
more commercials? is the game long enough as it is?
more games to pull revenue in? is a 20 game season in store?
pay-per-view? we got a taste of that with the NFL channel who may decide they'll make more charing $10 to watch a game or $300 for a subscription packge for the year per a household than advertisers and then they go that route.

my point is salaries can only go so high before it falls back on the fans once again to help keep paying these salaries. the higher it gets i think the more people who have to work for a living get tired of funding whiney millionaires.

i used to love baseball but after the 3rd strike they were out. now it could all fold and i'd not care at all.

i'd hate to see football end up that way but with the focus being the money and it ever increasing coupled with college kids who've yet to set foot on an NFL field getting $30mil in guaranteed money - i have no pity for their issues and problems.

and i won't pay $300 a year to watch the cowboys on my own tv.

we all have our breaking points and as the game continues to move in the direction of the all mighty $, those of us who make less than the players will have less and less sympathy for the overall problem - funding the game.

make more sense?

Dude its a market. Ticket prices rise because the stadium keeps selling out. Salaries are going up because of coporate endorsements, ticket sales and TV contracts becoming more and more lucrative.

If people wouldn't pay those prices then they wouldn't raise them and its as simple as that. Thats not a breaking point but rhater what the market will bear.

Welcome to capitalism.

I agree but I also do not have sympathy for players crying for more.

We can all complain all we want.....

But the market is set for players to be paid like this......

I love the way the NFL is structured.....alot better then how baseball...hockey...basketball are run with guaranteed contracts....

Movie Stars....CEO's.....etc.....they are all overpaid.

If we were in the same shoes as a NFL player and we see how much money owners and the NFL make........we would too be asking for as much as we can get.....why wouldnt we?

Maybe so but if you don't get it would you go on strike? Face it these guys are getting paid more than what they would ever see in any other profession they could have gone to.
I don't begrudge anyone making money but sorry I can't see them as oh poor me I can't get by with the little you pay me or the conditions I have to work in. You don't like what the NFL pays then go do something else, put that college education to use and after a year they would be knocking down the doors to come back.
A vast majority of us do work with a ceiling of what we can make, if you are a clerk the pay scale is from this amount up to this amount so yes in almost every job out there you will find a max pay within that job.
