Did you know Zay Jones is Robert Jones's son

Lock at #28??

Yeah but they're not going WR at 28. It would shock me after resigning both Williams and Butler.

Sadly, it looks like I'm going to be sticking more pins in my Mike Winicki voodoo doll that Thursday night. Cornerback it is.

What's it going to be then, eh?

If anything we take a WR/RS. Late. Signing those two all but assures that, even though I would start planning for the post-Bryant era sooner than later.

Still disagree. Butler is the Brodney Poole of WR's. He can be cut in preseason if he cant beat out Whitehead. Williams is basically making #3 money and he can moved down the depth chart.

WR is still in play IMO

I've heard both Jerry and Stephen state in recent years their philosophy in drafting in the 1st round is to get an immediate starter. That isn't happening at WR this year. Bryant, Williams, Beasley will be your starters. For that reason alone I see them going away from any WR at that spot and toward DE or CB.

I'm not concerned about Lawson's arm length. If you can play you can play. He's powerful and wins the leverage battle routinely. Including when he went up against Laremy Tunsil. I'd be more concerned about whether he can stay on the field.

I don't have a Lawson to Dallas vibe because I want it to happen though. Just a feeling I get with the player.

True, but Jones wasnt drafted to be an immediate starter in 2015. Drafting this late in the first you need to temper your expectations on an immediate contribution. A WR we draft would probably get similar playing time to what Jones had the first half of his rookie year. He would move right into Butlers spot, and would probably take snaps away from Williams as well. Hell, I could even see a guy like Jones beating Williams out and Williams moving down to 4th. At that contract you arent married to Williams as a #2, and at 1 year 1 million, you arent married to Butler at all

Jones wasnt taken to be an immediate starter? I think he was. Especially if you consider a 3rd CB a starter and I do.

At the time with Scandrick, Claiborne and Carr he was #4

I don't think they looked at it that way especially with Claiborne so unreliable and underachieving. If you go back and listen to those post draft press conferences that year you will hear them talk about getting an immediate starter in the first round as their criteria. Why would they say that after taking someone they don't think can start right away? Makes no sense.

I think they were blowing smoke because Jones needed too much work at the position to be an immediate starter. They also talked about how he would be able to play Safety if they need. With Jones I think they took the talent and would figure out how best to use him.

Honestly I don't see Willams as a starter lock either. Thats a sub package WR contract. If you draft a Zay Jones, Williams is now competing for his job

Beasley's your 3. He's too effective in that role to push him off the field. If you're replacing Williams with a draft pick that means the Cowboys just gave that contract to a 4th WR who rarely sees the field.

I just dont see it. I dont see them passing up on talent if they are there just because of two guys that combined for 60 catches last year. Butler got looks and would have been more productive if he was a better player. Williams in his role could probably come down with 30-35 catches depending on how much they throw

This is a good draft for us. Heavy at the top for DL, S, CB. I am comfortable, atm, with 5 or 6 different guys
