Who is next years Shanle?

So our safeties are no longer interchangeable?

Does Davis make it look like you can plug an SS into that spot?

I think Beriault is much more athletic than Davis and if Coach Parcells gave a truly one dimensional player like Davis an opportunity there, I have no reason to believe Beriault would not be any different.

If you remember, a year ago, we heard that "he is a SS" excuse used by Coach Parcells himself as a reason why he was not playing FS and Roy Williams moved back to strong. I also believe we were leaning that way with Beriault until his knee just became more of an issue than we could deal with.

I anticipate him being given every opportunity to compete at FS next year with the loser between he and Davis going to back up Roy with Willie Pile as the second string.

Why in the world are we wondering who the next Scott Shanle is? The kid has 25 tackles, 3 per game!

Not exactly a game breaker. He's done nothing that makes him worthy of this type of question.

I want our players to aspire to more than that.

He is playing well enough that we will use Dat as a nickel linebacker. I don't know about you, but that is doing pretty well.

Only because he is coming off injury. If that doesn't happen, Shanle doesn't sniff the field on anything besides special teams. Dat's injury caused him to contemplate retirement, he's not going to be rushed back.

What? You don't believe Lynn Scott is going to be in the mix?

That's my pick. I think he's going to turn out to be a very good pro.

I like Thornton, but I do think he lacks athleticism. I just think that in Parcells' 3-4, OLB is such an important position that he's going to go out and find someone who's, in his words, a catalytic player.

That guy might be on the roster in Fujita or Burnett. Burnett is a terrific athlete, but he might end up on the inside. Fujita... I'm not sure about. now is his chance, and if he ends up making a lot of plays, he'll probably keep the position opposite Ware.

However, if Fujita is just so-so and Burnett ends up inside... I see Parcells either getting someone in FA or going high in the draft again and getting a big, pass rushing OLB who can be a difference maker.

My point in all of that is Kalen very well might not have an opportunity to grab the other starting OLB position. I think Parcells likes him, but I don't think he sees Thornton as the solution at SOLB.

Just my $0.02.

Tony Curtis
6'5" 269 lbs TE

Whats with the Curtis love affair? Know him? Watch him play somewhere?

If Shanle was an average bench warmer like you suggest, wouldn't we be chomping at the bit to get Nguyen back on the field starting?

I think it is just because he is a TE. You know, a fetish.:D

"Dat's injury caused him to contemplate retirement, he's not going to be rushed back."

I also never said he was an average bench warmer, but he's not a stud. I'm definitely not content with Shanle starting at ILB.

Coach Parcells' comments are conflicting themselves then.

On one hand, he suggests there is no "holding back", yet now he is "holding back" Dat? He is completely healthy. He just is not mentally ready to play as well as Shanle is.

I don't know about you, I would really like it if unnoticed players came out of the woodwork and start and do well as Shanle has. That is how you win championshps when you have players you never expected to emerge breakout and become stars. It is happening with both Crayton and Shanle.

A lot of it is Dat is holding himself back. BP said himself that he trusts Dat enough to allow Dat to tell him when he's ready.

I think we have different perceptions on Shanle's contributions. Has he filled in adequately? Of course.

Has he "broken out"? Not in my book.

And the idea that he is "becoming a star", is laughable.

A little bit of both.

I got a little blurb on him early in the offseason. He was included in a conversation about Cowboys whom might take the next step. So far Bradie and Tucker have proven the blurb right........Curtis and Beriualt stepping up next season would make the blurb 4 for 4.

He's fastest TE on the roster and he hadn't even gone through a Parcells off-season. His injury during training camp was one of those Joe Gibbs mysterious injuries during his hay days with the Skins inorder to stash a player........a Red Shirt year.

Interesting. I'll keep an eye on him.

Do you know someone with the team?

Not necessarily with the team, I know one prominent agent very well and I have close friends who work with/for Agents around the league.

Not saying you are wrong or lying, but please explain how a 4.98 40 at the combine is the fastest TE on the roster? With that time I'd say he struggles to beat all but Dan Campbell.

BP does like him though cuz he said "he's pretty good" about him. BP never does that.

What were Rob Petitti combine numbers?...........I think you get my point.
