I Love Lucy was about Lucy and she was the funny one. So the argument that women never got a shot isn't really true. There was also the Carol Burnett show. There are other examples.

I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, All in the Family (Okay, everyone was funny, but Edith was the Dingbat).....Then there are the shows in which both parents are smart, but the kids mess up a lot: Family Ties, Growing Pains, etc.

The original films that had George Lucas were awesome but these new films produced by Disney and kept Lucas out of the loop are horrible. "A Force Awakens" I blame JJ Abrahams and Disney top brass like Bob Iger for the crappy casting and "The Last Jedi" for Direction and Writing was Rian Johnson.Which has to be the most awful film in the whole series to me. ....Hollywood has been putting out garbage of late and not going to get my money for "Star Wars-The Rise of Skywalker"......After "The Last Jedi" and all the garbage of political correctness and the horrible acting.I now turn to the Darkside and joined againist this crap....There is a BOYCOTT for EPISODE 9 Movement .On Star Wars Only they did a poll and the question was "Are You Going to Boycott Episode 9"? 41% say yes they would..That is over a 3rd of fans who refuse to pay for this garbage.


It seems Hollywood has been pushing female heroes more then men probably going on 15 years now....Charlie's Angels made money because guys wanted to see how sexy the women would be,but when they saw it was just a "Girl Power" fantasy then the Charlie's Angels sequel BOMBED because everyone knew what to expect.....Plenty of movies they have been pushing. "Ghost in the Shell","Underworld" "Mad Max -Fury Road"etc....Not men to be the heroes. Basically where is the New Arnold Swartzenegger? Sly Stallone? Bruce Willis? They are not there and if you have seen "The Last Jedi"it is so obvious this stuff is being pushed on everyone.This is Princess Leia's,Rey,Laura Dern's moment,not the guys.....I just wish they would let Men be Men and Women can be beautiful and sexy still and can also be heroes,but not this veiled Hate Men Crap being pushed down my throat......

Hollywood also has been hating on families for probably the last 30 years.No more TV sitcoms like "The Brady Bunch" when they made the Brady Bunch movie, they made the family into a total joke....

Talks of a female James Bond? PLEASE!!!!



For me, Hollyweird is not getting my money anymore they have lost touch with their core audience

The straight man can be funny too. Ricky Ricardo had some good moments, as did Patricia Castle on Home Improvement, and plenty of others. But the start of this conversation was about the recent trend of men being complete idiots on sitcoms, and I have to say, I don't even watch most of those shows, because if roles were reversed, and the women were portrayed as complete morons, the backlash would be brutal.

I equate it with the way women feel they can insult a man anytime they feel like it, and it's no big deal. Call them stupid, fat, lazy, whatever, it's just fine....Go ahead and say any of those things to a woman and see what happens. Double standard, pure and simple.

True, but this is a fine line and really don't want it as some big PC discussion, but whoever is in the majority, position of power etc can't say/do things without backlash, mostly because they have/had been saying or doing those things that perpetuated the inequality in the first place. The side crying it's a double standard had been doing/saying it forever and now they want to be treated fairly? If they had been treating the other side fairly to begin with it wouldn't have been an issue. Both sides are still wrong, but when the stronger side does it it gets viewed as trying to keep the weaker side down and in their place.

Now, if you wanna claim that men are less likely to take it hard, then sure, we have thicker skin about things like that. But that doesn't mean they should be able to say whatever they want.

Like I said, when either side does it, it's wrong. Not all men do it and definitely less than did it before, but it's also naive to not think there are many that still do act that way and still present in our society, whether overtly or subtly. Men usually have thicker skin, partly because, right or wrong, women are still more likely to get judged by her looks. It does bother some guys tho, Zeke gets called fat all the time and it bothered him enough to post a pic showing that he wasn't.....lol

Hollywood has probably over corrected in attempts in diversifying casting, that's not necessarily a bad thing, it still comes down to the writing. The whole thing about PC in movies and TV, sometimes it's warranted, sometimes it isn't. In the Star Wars movies, I would expect more diversity, there are all types of being from thousands of different planets. I don't get the PC thing in a show like GOT, in that type society, it wouldn't have been equal for women or people that didn't look like your fellow countryman.

There have been acting problems in every Star Wars related movie, starting with Mark Hamill. The dialog is usually pretty bad, though the stories themselves are pretty good. A lot of the creatures are just stupid looking, and probably wouldn't have survived long enough to evolve into an intelligent species. If not for the cool ships, weapons, and special effects, the whole franchise would be relegated to B movie status.

OMG, yes. I watched a non SW movie with Mark Hamill. He is a TERRIBLE actor. I turned the movie off after like 10 minutes. No wonder he's made his living doing voice overs.

Even in the few cameos I've seen in sitcoms, he's awful. I've never even heard a female say he was particularly good looking or anything either, so I have no idea how he made a living as an actor.

I have no issues with strong female characters. I was a big Wonder Woman fan, Zena fan, Buffy fan, Khaleesi fan, etc.... Rey is not my problem with Star Wars. It was the ridiculous writing with the whole story line. The way Rey can magically do anything without training like no other force user we have ever seen including Anakin who was made by the midichlorians. The way they basically discarded Luke is the worst part. Basically, they ruined it.

It's obvious that Rey is the chosen one. The Jedi mistakenly thought it was Anakin, tried to force it on him, and it backfired on them big time. Luke and Leia (and Han for one movie) are supporting characters this time around. this trilogy is about Rey, Finn and Poe learning selflessness, compassion, sacrifice and what it takes to be a leader. It's a passing of the torch so to speak.

Anakin was a human child, kicking tail in the Podracer, and being adept at fixing anything, without training doesn't count?

BTW, what do you mean by "made by the midichlorians"? I know he had a higher count of them then Qui Gon had ever seen, is that all you mean by that?

I've seen/heard some do it, but I sure have seen woman do it to men in a much larger percentage with little to no backlash at all. As you said, what does it have to do with men today? There is a lot of "well in the past" type of excuses that gets thrown around to justify their crappy treatment of others and then consider it PC.

Overall, like many others I am all for woman and POC having strong lead roles. I myself prefer women out of the typical damsel in distress roles. Honestly I would rather have my woman right there with me being a part of the solution than in the back playing victim. The problem as some have stated is the hypocrisy of it all. More often than not it seems that strong female lead means to insult men at every corner and if you don't like it you're just a misogynist that hates women. I remember trying to get into Supergirl since I was watching the Arrowverse, and to be honest I never got into Superman so I figured it would be the entry to that type of character. I got through the first 3 or 4 episodes and I just dropped it, I grew tired of the crying "OMG it's because she's a woman!" at every question. I'm thinking, this is Supergirl... who aside from Superman and only because of his use of abilities for some time up to that point is the strongest person on earth and still can't get away from that attitude. There have been many times the female character became my favorite in a show or movie, but they often commanded the same respect that they gave and stayed away from the poor me BS that I see in a lot of these PC shows/movies coming out.

I watch Supergirl, and I honestly don't remember much of that attitude even in the beginning, but there's absolutely none of it now.
