I always thought it was the father but my wife thought it was the brother because she felt the mother knew and would protect her son but not her husband. I didn't delve too deeply into that thinking.

I don't know about the son doing it... The blow to the head was brutally hard. Caused an 8" skull fracture.

I question if the son who was only 7 was strong-enough to create that type of injury.

All you have to do is research a little and you'll find just how uninformed your statement about parents doing that is. There are many examples in the news of domestic abuse of children being that bad. Some people have empty holes where their conscience should be. Sociopaths, psychopaths, etc. They reproduce too.

For some twisted reason, I watch a lot of the true crime shows. It is sickening to see that there are adults killing children and they show no remorse at all. This world is full of monsters and they are humans. IMO a child is the most precious part of the human race and it is hard for me to understand how anybody could harm them. Unfortunately, it happens much more than we know about.

I also wanted to add JonBenét' parents passed a lie-detector test given by a private expert – after the first one they took came up “inconclusive”. They're guilty as heck. Why take another?

Probably took pills to pass the 2nd one. I also believe Patsy's cancer proceeded to get more aggressive being she was hiding/covering up such a heinous crime.

That will eat you up, especially a mother. Some have no conscience/soul whatsoever. Their names are OJ Simpson & John Ramsey. Pure evil.

OJ put out $1 million reward & Ramsey waited for kidnappers to show up to pay the ransom. Both knew, they'd never spend a dime due to their guilt. One day they'll meet their Maker, I for sure wouldn't wish to be in either of their shoes.

Passing a polygraph test means absolutely nothing. Those things are pseudo science with no more accuracy than tarot cards. It's good that their results aren't allowed in court, but they ought to be banned altogether. Basically, a polygraph examiner relies on the dupe they've hooked up to believe that this "science" is real. That way he might be able to bully or spook a confession out of him. In short, the Ramseys could be the most guilty people on the planet, but still pass a polygraph -- or they could be totally innocent and fail it. Here's info:

Because the attack was so vicious the person had to actually have real hatred toward the child or the family. But I don't know that we will ever be told the full truth.
As it has been 25 years it appears whomever did it is not a threat to anyone else which is all we can take away from this becoming ill.

My gut says brother but there's pretty much zero real evidence to back that up.
I do believe "the family" (1 or both parents) conspired with some member/s of the police to protect someone and cover this up.

This prompted a frantic police search of everywhere the boy had trick or treated and a nationwide news story that panicked parents and changed how the candy was treated from there on out and even stopped a lot of people from letting their kids go out at all. Hospitals even started x-raying candy to insure it was safe after apples were found with razor blades in them and the scary thing was that was in multiple cities before the internet gave the sick and twisted a meeting place. How did these creatures all get the same idea at the same time?

I cannot even imagine the trauma of growing up with the people who are supposed to love and protect you abusing you. If they survive that, the scars never heal and too often the act gets repeated by the victims of it.

You make some great points. The small town where I grew up had a few problems with Halloween candy several years ago. The local hospital was x-raying candy for all the children at no cost. That was very nice of them they do that, but it doesn’t change the fact they shouldn’t have to check the candy.

But that would take a lot of effort for a 7 yo and it would take a lot of malice in the mind of the 7 yo to do that to one's own sister.

And then you have the garrote.

The skull fracture was enough to kill her, so then as now grieving parents and trying to protect their son that they're going to garrote the dead or near-dead child to try to fool people into believing that an intruder did it...

Boy, I have a tough time believing that.

On top of that the language used in the ransom letter greatly bothers me...

"Speaking to anyone about your situation, such as Police, F.B.I., etc., will result in your daughter being beheaded."

I just can't believe any parent who's just lost a daughter due to a very-violent outburst by their son would use that type of language in a fake ransom letter.

One other point, much of what I've read concerning the science of the assault on the child is that the hit to the head happened AFTER the child had started to be choked by the garrote. Was Burke mature enough to even think of using a garrote on his young sister just for fun?

One of the most puzzling things about this case is the distinct amount of money that was asked for in the ransom note. It was $118,000!and that is a very odd amount to ask for. John Ramsey has recently got a bonus from his employer and that bonus was $118,000. I feel like that odd amount that was requested could easily be the key to identifying the murderer, if the police had not screwed this case up the way they did. I think the ransom request narrows down the list of possible suspects to only the people that knew about John’s bonus and the specific amount. As much as I don’t want the murderer to be a family member, it sure looks like one or more of the family members was involved. I think the case would have been much easier to solve if the police had not been involved. A class of kindergarten children could have handled this case with more professionalism than the police force.

Right from the get-go it went off the rails.

The crime scene was compromised immediately. And not doing a top to bottom search of the house is mind-boggling. John Ramsey carrying the body upstairs was bad enough, but then the police woman moved it again and put a blanket over her. Stunning.
