Who many years do we go without a playoff win?

For me personally......Playoff wins dont mean much.

If this team sprinkled a few playoff wins here and there without winning the SB...it makes no difference.....other then having the mediots and fans complaining about not winning a playoff game.

For me its win the Super Bowl.....anything less is a disappointment and I dont believe a winning season and a playoff victory makes you any better the following year.

JMHO

I do understand that logic, but I'm tired of this team being a freakin joke. I'd like to feel good about my team. There's virtually nothing that could stop me from liking this team, but right now it's like having a cross to bear. It's HARDER being a Cowboys' fan than a lot of others. For instance if you're vocal and overt about liking the Bengals, Chiefs or the Browns, nobody really cares that they haven't dome anything in years. If you're very vocal and overt about liking Dallas, as I am, it's grueling.

Wow! Just wow! I finished reading all the post, and there are too many I want to respond to.

Let me hit this one right above me.
how many years are we at? 12 right?
What does that mean, really? Do 12 years without a playoff win doom the holder of such a record to 13 years without a playoff win? The only way that 12 year playoff drought would possibly suggest another year of drought is if the same players on that team in the 1st year were still on this team 12 years later. Then, maybe, that logic would actually make sense.

Moving on...

I was just asking how many years it's been cause I lost track.

How can you look at this team, with as much talent as we have and before the draft even takes place, and think it's inevitable that we won't win a playoff game? Are we *ever* going to decide as a fanbase to get over being disappointed with how last season ended and appreciate what we've got again?

I can't remember the last time we've had this much talent, an elite QB, elite players on both sides of the ball. We're inaugurating the best new stadium in the league in a few months, and you guys come in with all the enthusiasm of a wet fart. Knock it off already. Seriously.
We've done this the past 10 years, we start off being mad at the end of the season. Then we get a few good players in here, get the draft, all of a sudden, we think we're Super Bowl bound.

One day I'll wake up, and we'll actually walk the walk.

The core players have proven through two polar opposite regimes that they're prone to laying down so that's one thing that can't be put all on Wade. It goes up higher and hints at the lack of accountability from on high. How many of these players that have lain down and been part of these horrific collapses over the past 13 years have been rewarded for it? WAAAAYYY too many. I'm not trying to say that you take the hatchet to the team, but heads need to roll more than they do. Don't get the job done, you don't get rewarded for being mediocre. The offensive line is a prime example of this. These guys have collapsed two seasons running and they're jobs are ridiculously secure. Even a guy like Cory Procter seems all, but assured to be playing on this team next year.

I agree, completely.

They can't help themselves. They're miserable and won't listen to reason.
Is it even possible that this is a Superbowl contender?
That this is one of the best teams that simply caught too many bad calls in their 2007 divisional playoff game and a few too many injuries in 2008.

Noooooooo. It can't be. They must suck.

Doesn't matter if we have a franchise QB, 5-6 top 5 players and another 5-6 top 10 players in our starting lineup.

If you want to both feel good about and at the same time get a good beat on this team, simply go and compare it to others.

Well we went 5-11 three out of four years...then 9-7 three out of four years...don't know if we go up or down over the next four. One thing is certain the team needs to get younger and to managements credit they have taken a few good steps this off-season.

In the late 80's, 90's, and today - the cowboys had est. 15 players over 30 and many of them starters. Contrast that with teams who are consistently playing at a high level (Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, etc) who are among the youngest teams...who use vets, but not always as starters.

In each case the point is that the team had gotten old and was not able to compete. And in each case had to rebuild. The question will remain for this year, can we compete or will we have to rebuild before making the run for the championship.

(Note: The younger the team the better our odds of making a run for the championship....average overall age of team needs to be 3 years younger than it is today).

So how old are the Cowboys relative to the rest of the league?

The Cowboys only have seven starters over thirty, most of whom are on the offensive line.

The Cowboys are middle of the pack in average team age but they have a high number of older vets that actually start -- other teams don't have as many starting. The Cowboys did get rid of five or six this off-season which should pay didends, so good start by management to get younger.

Here is a list of players who will be 30 or older this year...13 of them on our current roster...10 of which will start or see the majority of play time.

Matt Stewart LB Mat McBriar P Patrick Crayton WR Kyle Kosier G Junior Siavii NT Marc Colombo T Leonard Davis G Terence Newman CB Andre Gurode C Keith Brooking LB Greg Ellis LB Flozell Adams T Jon Kitna QB

They forgive slightly light headed posting, I suppose. :laugh1:

Your original post was considerably more that "slightly" lightheaded... actually, I suspect that you didn't bother to engage your brain at all...

Yeah, we can see your love for the Boys just drippin' off of every post you make... you love them SO much, you can't seem to find one good thing to say about them...

With "fans" like you, do the Boys need haters??

I wasn't aware that being critical of the Cowboys meant that you hated them. Guess I should be here singing the praises of Pat Watkins or someone of the like.

A gyspy told my momma, on the day I was born, that Dallas would win the SB seven straight times right after I divorced by seventh wife.

I would like to think we are shooting for more than just a playoff win. I doubt anyone is going to be happy making the playoffs and winning 1 then done. My expectation is the NFC Championship anything less will be a disappointment in my eyes.

For any other NFL city, making the conference championship game might be acceptable. For Dallas, it won't be enough. It is either Super Bowl or bust. Anything less will not be tolerated. Unrealistic but fact non-the-less.

Cowboys' fans are spoiled and that is not gonna change anytime soon :starspin

We had just as much, if not more talent over the last 2 years and couldn't get it done. What makes you think that this coach can win a playoff game with any team?

Because, in sports, past results don't determine future outcomes?

Slightly disappointing when you learn some people actually think that way isn't it?

One thing I try to remember is that we all express doubts now and then. With some it has become avant garde to show off their knowledge about how long the drought has been in case you didn't know.
