Who replaces Owens next year?

We'll be making our team weaker if we get anyone besides Chad Johnson, Marvin Harrison, or Steve Smith. 13 TDs is hard to come by.

No need to waste any more carpals on this.

I was waiting for you in this thread.

We already had YoMIck, WV Cowboy in here defending something that did not need to be, and you just made it the normal threesome.

Please show me the hate in this thread. It is a simple question based on speculation and yet you guys feel the need to come in here and proclaim hate!

The Cowboys have a pretty good group of wide receivers outside of Owens. The offense operated fairly well with K Johnson and Glenn, and that was with Bledsoe at QB. I think Crayton is under-rated and could very well provide what Keyshaun did in '05. Assuming Owens leaves next year, the way to offset that loss isn't by picking up a WR, but by upgrading the offensive line. The Cowboys have a QB, they have the WRs, they have the running back. With a few tweaks of the offensive line, I'd start with the guards, I think the Cowboys could continue to have a dominant offense without Owens.
Actually I agree with most of what you said. The offense will still be able to produce with or without Owens contribution. But looking at FA list for WRs next year, there's not alot to be had, so unless we make a trade for one, pickings are slim. So he prolly sticks for another year.

But if TO's roster bonus or whatever it is isn't picked up, then I do think they pick up another vet FA. Maybe a 2nd tier guy like Curtis or Bennett. If Parcells comes back, no way he goes with just Crayton and Glenn as the vets, and then a bunch of 2nd year guys for depth.

Actually... if you read my posts... I dont have to defend him everytime something comes up.....

I just pointed out "TO will never be a Cowboy" and how its comparable to "TO will not be here next year"

Why breakup the team and the developing chemistry with QB and WR's though? Sounds counterproductive

Just another reason why replacing Owens is not in best interest of team.

I am just saying that I don't believe there was any intent of the initial poster to say anything negative about TO, just a what if scenario.

Then he gets labeled a hater.

I don't know if it is equivalent to a "TO will never be a Cowboy" statement but if you say so, OK.

I didn't say Owens should be released. I don't care one way or the other honestly.

But like Tobias said, even w/the Key/Glenn/Crayton combo w/Bledsoe at the helm, the offense was able to produce. So I've got enough optimism that with some tweaks along the line that the O will still be able to produce as long as they bring in another vet WR...preferably a younger one with some talent.

But again if you read what I said, the chances of Owens being released are slim if you look at the current FA crop. Not much there to be had...even from some of the projected releases.

What are the Points Per Game comparison between those days and this year?

Please show me where I called someone a hater in this thread... Some people just like repeating the same thing over and over and over. I guess if you say it enough it'll come true. If that's the case...

Points per game last year just over 20.
Total points for season last year - 325

Points per game this year just under 30.
Total points for season this year - 425

Yes Mick.

I will join your "threesome."

Just based on my simple calculations

2005 = 325 total points avg 20.31ppg

2006 = 425 total points avg 26.56ppg

So almost a 7 pt difference per game, but we still ended the season at 9-7.

I'm not downplaying TO's contribution to the team. He did contribute. He produced. He did what he was supposed to do.

But in the end we're still 9-7 and limping to a playoff game in a weakened conference.

So if they decide to keep him or release him and go after another WR, I'm not shedding tears either way.

Well that "Roger that" would be to the "you are not alone" quote which referred to a thread saying "hate him all you want"

Roger that?

I could hang 2 losses on TO and 2 losses on Romo. Lets split the difference... we should be 11-5.

He's with the TO love.

I think you know this and trying to be technical.

Win as a team, lose as a team.

Yes there are always contributing factors to why a team loses, but in the end, the name in the loser's column is Cowboys, not Romo, not Owens, not anybody else.
