Who sees a role for Christine Michael?

I'd bet he's active sooner rather than later.

I'd guess it'll be at least another week. Even then, I can't see the point in having four RBs active. We only need three and just need to decide which three are best.

I imagine that's something that the offensive staff is wrestling with to try to squeeze as much production from our running game as possible. The Eagles are showing evidence of having a RB corps that is capable of exhausting defenses in the second half. I would only hope our staff can come up with a way to produce the same effect.

Maybe leave Clutts inactive?

Once Michael has a better understanding of the system, we may seem him active for the game or at the very least a heavy dose of McFadden.

I don't think they want Mcfadden going to heavy until Michael is ready. Joe Randle had a good game, but he's not the best primary back to pound the rock, seems like a 10 touch a game/ third down back/good receiver out of the backfield type guy. I'm not sure there is to much of a difference between Dunbar and Randle to have them both active at the same time.

I'd rather see McFadden starting, Randle or Dunbar as the "Change of Pace"/3rd down back and an active Christine Michael backing up McFadden.

When Michael is ready, this is what we may see.

Posted this in another thread:
The problem is who do you make inactive in order for him to get on the field. After Dunbar's late game heroics, he isn't going anywhere. We need to activate at least 1 possibly 2 dlinemen for the philthy game and call up another receiver. Some of it's a wash, i understand but we are going to have to create a hole somewhere to put him into it and there are already more important holes to fill.

Faulk told Irvin CM is going to be a beast once he is unleashed and will be the unquestioned starter once this happens. Irvin talked about this yesterday on the fan. I have a gut feeling CM gets unleashed this week especially with Dez out of the picture. The best way to keep the iggles grounded will be controlling the time of possession. Nothing earth shattering..I know. If Faulk is telling Irvin the cowboys have found their bellcow there is no reason not to unleash him this week.

Michael washed out in Seattle. McFadden washed out in Oakland. I'm very leery of players who don't produce over multiple years. McFadden may have looked great, but he had all of one run longer than 3 yards (his first). Michael hasn't even suited up and people think this guy that we got for nothing is the best RB on the team. I really don't get it. I'll wait for the production to show up, thanks.

The difference is.. DMC washed out after having a million chances at the starting role and FAILING. Michael didn't wash out... he was simply behind one of the best RB's in football... there was no way he was going to get a shot at the starting role there or many carries at all when Lynch is getting 99% of the carries.

Dunbar played more like a slot receiver than a RB last night. With Dez being down, I can see them activating CM once he gets playbook down and use Dunbar more as a WR.

Dunbar looked amazing. Albeit against a trash defense. He still looked way faster than Randle or DMC. He is the type of guy you want to get multiple screen passes/short passes to in a game and give him the shot to eat up some yards or take it all the way to the house.

A lot of people were complaining about the running game, but I thought Randle, Dunbar and McFadden all did a fine job.

That said, Michael has another gear and ceiling that none of the other three have.

I could see Michael getting some burn with Dez out as an extra weapon, or I could see him riding the pine the entire season. I can't decide. What do you guys think?

What did McFadden do? Nothing. AS soon as McChicken goes down Im sure he will get his chance. Dunbar isnt going anywhere until he gets hurt and Randle isnt going anywhere.

I think you need only look at all the goalline situations where the Cowboys opted to pass versus run Sunday against the Giants.

This.
I think once Michaels is ready, Joe may go from starter to inactive as Dunbar is the better COP back and DMC is just a better talent.

It's hard to imagine a scenario where we activate 4RBs, unless it comes at the expense of a TE. Since I can't see us using just 2 TEs, I'm going to say he will be inactive until someone gets injured.

Did Michael play Special Teams in Seattle?

To my thinking, Joseph Randle will ultimately prove he's best utilized as a change of pace back, as opposed to someone who is likely to be effective as our lead RB. Whether the Cowboys would like to admit it or not, they NEED Christine Michael if they're destined to have a legitimate chance to enjoy the benefits of a RB corps that can impose their will upon the opposition.

As much as I hate to say this, the current RBBC setup is altogether bereft of a power-type of RB in their arsenal. This is a situation that appears to be altogether too sad but true, imho.

DMC does quite well in a limited capacity but the staff is certainly only too well aware that a generous amount of reps for him would be likely to lead to his being inactive with a lingering injury. I would only hope that CM is to be activated very soon if our running game is to become truly effective. I can only imagine that the staff is testing his pass blocking capabilities quite intently at this point in time.

Murray had 5 of 18 games last season where he did not exceed 4.1 ypc.
All of them were in the 2nd half of the season after he got ran into the ground the first half of the season. Murray was a completely different back week 9 through Divisional playoffs then he was week 1 through 9

4.1 yards behind our line is not good at all
