Who should we be rooting for?

Interesting nuggets:
1) looks like Seattle will lose to Pitt (down 10 with 4 mins to go), which could knock them out of the playoffs altogether. Either GB or Minnesota win out (they play each other this week) while GB hosts Chicago next week and Minny plays Detroit, and Hawks are out. Rams winning today pushes them past Seattle and the Rams play SF next week and SF has nothing to play for.

2) Pitt may push Buffalo out of the playoffs by winning today. Pitt plays Balt next week and Balt has nothing to gain by winning. Pitt finishes off Seattle today and beats an uninterested Ravens team next week, and then Miami beats Buffalo at home next week, a very good Buffalo team is out.

Just beat Washington next week. That's all that matters.

You are allowed to have stupid opinions
And so are you. What a stupid thought to want to play an easier team in the first round. Lol ask the Eagles how nice it is playing easy games in the playoffs. Unfortunately we won’t get as lucky as them to play a 49ers team with no QB.

Correct. Stupid idea. Now that we both agree, we can move on

The rams are 6th seed…. Idk what happens if they lose next week but they’re playing a sf team with nothing to play for. They are the team I’d like to avoid. And also a team that could upset Detroit (forcing us to go to SF I’m the divisional round).

But then winning that would bring the nfc title game to Dallas

Depends on who you think the Cowboys would have an easier time with. The Rams and Seahawks both have weapons that can turn the game into a shootout.

Also, let's say disaster strikes next week and Dallas is indeed the 5 seed. Is it better to go play the NFC South winner on the road, or get the Rams/Seahawks/Packers/Vikings at home?

To answer your question, if you don't want to see Seattle, root for the Steelers. Won't officially eliminate them but would make it harder for them to get in.
I'd rather play Tampa, but as someone told me it's important for round 2. Besides that we do need to be able to beat whoever we play at the 7 seed. No excuses.

Our likely position has obviously changed after the early games, but whats likely to be the case from here?

I suppose SF has clinched the one seed, but who is our likely opponent in the 2/7 game? Who do/don’t we want to see?

It’s been discussed that the 5/4 game will be easier for the favorite than the 2/7, but the advantage the following week is far different.

Seems obvious that we would rather face Min or GB as opposed to LAR/Seattle.

Maybe someone who gets it and isn’t still on a bender from last night can help me out. Appreciate….
We should be rooting to play the Vikings / Saints. Jordan Love is playing good and is mobile and I want no parts of that.

I'm pretty sure the Bills make the playoffs no matter what. They secured it due to them winning and the Chiefs winning.

Edit: NVM you were right. They need the Ravens to beat the Steelers....which isn't a foregone conclusion. Also the Ravens could play half a game but I get the feeling they want to knock them out of the playoffs.

Id rather have Minnesota...for some reason..GB always seems to have the Cowboys number in the playoffs....Cowboys haven't beat the Packers in the playoff since 1996 (0-2)

I believe Jax and Houston would also have to win while Miami beats Buffalo in order for the Bills to get left out but crazy that going into the final week the Bills could be anything from the #2 seed to out of the playoffs completely.

... the Dallas Cowboys!
:)

nah we need the 2 seed, we can play horrible on the road. We are going to have to hope we can beat washington, play good at home with 2 seed, and then scheme up to give ourselves a chance in San Francisco in the NFC Championship game.

for those of you actually wanting the 5 seed, a word of advice, NEVER try to go against your strengths, and in important situations always try to get the ball to your best players.

Bills can go from winning the division and the #2 seed to not making the playoffs at all.
