The second Jaylon is ready physically, stamina wise, it's him. Let him make the mental mistakes, he'll grow from those quickly. Until then, it's Durant. This defense was always going to be about how dynamic Jaylon turned out to be anyway, we just need to know sooner now. I've made my feelings known on this from the beginning, I think Lee and Jaylon are going to be special at some point this year.

I could actually care less if they do it or not. But it still remains a possibility.

Either way the Lber situation, much like the pass rush, and much like the secondary is in disarray.

Yeah, me too. Reluctantly. I mean, we risk him getting hurt too but......he can ball out and we just have to keep our fingers crossed. Try to sign a backup, physical thumper that gets released after final cuts and roll with it.

I sorta think the correct answer is who replaces Hitchens in the MLB role right now is probably a combination of Woods/Frazier. Before you tell me they're safeties just listen to my reasoning. The base defense in the NFL now isn't a 4-3 or a 3-4 its the nickle. Right now I don't trust any of our LB to play in the nickle beside Lee. I think Durant will be alright then once he's up to speed. I think Smith will probably be alright there by the end of the year if he keeps progressing. I think Wilson doesn't have the right coverage skills for it. I don't trust Nzeocha to either make a play or stay healthy. And I'm guessing a 4-1-6 might well be better for us then the more traditional 4-2-5 because we can likely have someone who's more of a hitter up in the box and not sacrifice coverage skills. As far as who's the MLB in the 4-3 when we play it, some combo of Durant/Smith seems like the most likely combination.

• We had the opportunity to see a little of Justin Durant for the first time working in the play action period. Scott Linehan called a misdirection flip play on short yardage to try and fool the defense. Damontre' Moore did a nice job of staying at home -- but he was also playing wide enough to force Rod Smith to have to cut the ball inside. Durant, hustling from the middle of the field, was able to beat Chaz Green’s block. Durant was able to wrap up Smith with a solid open field tackle.
