Higgins is the only good one and we won’t pay him.

Diggs would be the most Cowboys signing ever. Big name out of his prime fresh off an injury.
Really think we should try to bring back Cooper. He is the ideal #2 and we know he has good chemistry with Dak. Question is who was the one who wanted him off the roster, was it MM or the front office?

Yea Cooper would be a good signing but I don’t know if the drama between him and Dak was true and / or if Jerry didn’t want him here.

Bobby Belt reported at the time that it could of been MM driven, but nobody really knows. What I do remember he was complaining to the press that rubbed the coaches the wrong way.

This doesn’t make our DL any better next year…it’s probably worse.

Rookie DTs take time and usually don’t produce year 1.
That's why you bring in a vet to supplement the learning curve of you Top 15 DT pick who should catch on at some point his rookie season.

Great! That’s not the norm.
I disagree, especially with the 1st rd prospects. Day 2/Day 3 is where you have more of the developmental types where the Cowboys have been drafting them. Lawrence from the Giants was good right away, you can say the same about Simmons from the Titans to name a few outside of the top 10 stud's like a Carter.

guess what dude; there are several DTs every year that make real impacts as rookies
and we drafted Mazi who almost certainly will never be worth that pick
Make an impact…sure. Become consistent and play at a high level? Not the norm.

Jones, Wilkins, Lawrence, Brown…arguably 4 of the best DTs in football and none of them really hit their stride and became consistent playmakers until year 3.

I 100% want to draft a DT or 2 this year…but if we don’t have 2 quality proven vets as part of our DT room then I don’t see much changing.

Mazi is no different. Maybe he doesn’t turn into a stud but he’s starting to play much better and I expect him to be even better next year…in year 3.

Lawrence and Simmons were ok in year 1…both had PFF grades in the 70s. They didn’t turn into studs until a little further down the road. See post above.

That production is better what we have been getting at the position. I agree with you, still makes sense to add a veteran or 2 to help with their development.

Well yea…comparing anything to our DL looks better.

Good enough to get us over the hump in the playoffs? No.

It starts with fixing the run defense first, hell you might even see three interior lineman starting in the base. If you take a high DT, you hope for more of a three down player

100%…I’m just indicating getting average play even for an early DT in the 10-15 range is a home run.

They historically aren’t great year 1.

That’s why I think it’s so important to sign FAs.

It’s like the OL. Starting 2 rookies and expecting the OL to not skip a beat was incredibly dumb. I think Guyton is right on schedule for a bottom of the 1st round OT but he’s been pretty bad at times. Still think he can develop into an above average pro.

show some evidence about your claims top fifteen DTs are average; you keep saying it with no proof

We were spoiled on the OL as we have had great immediate success in the past, it doesn’t usually happen this way

100%… but heck even guys like Tyron and Tyler S were not great in year 1 and racked up a ton of penalties.

I just think our fans expectations for rookies are incredibly unrealistic.
