Who stays/who goes within our DL Rotation

Think we have to move on from Osa, just think he is more of a rotational type and he will be paid to be a starter
I think we need to keep the line together and just add two peices. We need to get one of these top 5 in the draft defensive tackles and a solid free agent piece to rotate with Osa and Mazi. Then you have a good tackle rotation. Parsons. Kneeland, Gholston and Sam is a good defensive end rotation as well. I think Osa is good with talent around him. To me this is the best way to improve our front 4. We need to add pieces not lose what we already have.

In my opinion, you want to upgrade not run the same guys out there who have struggled

I think Osa is a very solid player…he just needs help in more of a rotation.

I’d definitely consider extending him if the price is right.

Same for Golston.

So you’re going to depend on a rookie defensive linemen by himself to solve the run defense? That is how we got Mazi.

You do that and keep Osa. What free agent defensive tackle out there that is a better 3 tech than Osa? You need 4 tackles not 2.
OSA is an average starter in this league and no longer be on a rookie contract. He reminds me of the Hitchens discussion several years ago, another ok starter that got overpaid on the open market. You can find an older veteran fa starter for less, add another veteran NT like a Hankins and use the draft for 1-2 more.

Hankins is no Osa. You need a real defensive tackle if you’re going to replace the guy. You are really underrating him. Graham, Mazi, and Hankins will not solve our run defense.

You sign a Hankins type AND a 3t starter like a Hill from the bengals.

Why not keep OSA with Hill and have Graham/Mazi at the one tech. That would be the perfect outcome. I don’t understand why our owner won’t spend on the defensive tackle position. It’s not crazy expensive.

Cause he isn’t going to be worth what he is going to get on the open market

Find me another player who will give you 40+ pressures and 25+ stops over the course of a season and I’ll bite. Pay for what you get.

Cowboys need 2 DT's. One in FA and one in the draft or get 2 in the draft.

I can't see anyone complaining if they went DT with their 1st and 2nd rounder.

It's time to stop messing around and get serious. Watching teams consistently run against us is ridiculous.

Couldn’t agree more!

The issue is how much are you willing to invest in Osa to be a rotational player? If we draft a top 12 Dt that player is starting over Osa. Sure they can rotate and play together situationally, but you’re still only talking about 40-50% of the snaps for Osa.
In a perfect world I agree that keeping Osa would be ideal, but with so many holes across the roster you have to be smart with your resources.

Also, those 4 DE’s are not enough. It would be a classic Cowboys mistake to go into next season thinking that Kneeland/Williams are going to be good and we don’t need to add. Both the front office and fans fall in love with any/every player drafted by the Cowboys.

I’m fine with letting Osa walk…but if you do how do you at least get equal play at the 3T position? A rookie, no matter when selected, likely isn’t coming in as good in year 1 and if you pay less in FA you’re likely getting a lesser player.

Best scenario IMO is signing Osa and another DT in FA while still targeting a DT or 2 in the draft.

OSA is going to be interesting. He is a player I wish the organization would have targeted earlier and giving a contract extension. By waiting to he is a URF and probably the top DT on the market it will be expensive now. Dallas always waits and the extra millions it takes adds up.

The Cowboys have weaknesses all over the roster. You are going have to survive with a position like defensive end if your going to invest draft and free agent money to get better in the middle of the defense. You all seem to forget that we need a top notch runhing back and skill players to help out the offense.

Our first priority is to fix this poor run defense, in my opinion, to do that you need bigger personnel along the DL. Have to move away, from those undersized, quick twitch lineman that Marinelli/Quinn targeted. A player like Graham fits like a glove, he has the size/strength to be good on the early downs, but also has pass rush abilities to play on the money down.
Agree--- fix this run defense then the OL

It’s all about price and having a 60 million qb that squeezes their resources
