Who still thinks Zeke was a mistake at #4?

I was all aboard on the Wentz bandwagon. Zeke has changed my mind.

Best RB in the league right now. He can do it all.

He made a couple of clutch pass blocks tonight as well as his yardage show.

I wasn't against Zeke being the pick by any means, but I'll still eat crow.

Personally I thought why not take Zeke and put all the eggs in one basket. I thought our defense would be useless no matter who they added. Figured they might as well just try and outscore every team. So whether it was the smart move or not is another question. Then the defense shows up / just shows what not being on the field all day can do to help a defense. So it's working out but not the way I thought it might.

Amazing game.
He willed us to so many yards.

It was an easy choice in the 2016 draft because the other options were not great.

There are years where it might not have been the best pick. If there was an obvious super star at DE then it would be different.

Also, it was always going to be good short term. The problem is that it costs a lot more to get a DE (and other positions); therefore, you get less cap wise for your pick with a RB. Consider how Murray's contract was considered big at about 7M per. It would have been 17M if he was a top DL; therefore (in 2015 money) a top RB was worth about 10M less than a top DL.

In other words you get a (in 2015 dollars) 7M per x 5 years player with your pick vs a 17M per x 5 year player.

Again the top DE was not there and the top CB had way too many question marks in the 2016 draft so it's not really an issue.

I wanted us to draft Elliott since before the draft, so I've been on his bandwagon since before he was a Cowboy. I was afraid the team was going to draft Ramsey (who I did like, just not as much as EZE) and when the commissioner said "the Dallas Cowboys select Ezekiel Elliott", I said "holy crap, they did it!"

Had there been a dominant DE there, I would have wanted him but there was nobody there that was close to being as good a defender as Zeke is a RB. Just the best player there by far, IMO.

Having said all of that... it is real easy to love the EZE pick now that we still ended up picking our franchise QB, a good DT and a good DB in the same draft.

But wow, is Elliott a special player.

Yep, so glad we drafted Zeke, truly special and to think he will only get better!

96 yards on the ground
52 yards in the air

Kid is best back in the league.

Anyone who still thinks that is just doing it because of their anti Zeke agenda at this point.

These same guys said Murray was done after his last year with Dallas.

Looks like 43 yards separate Zeke at 1 and Murray at 2. Far too many times people listen to these "football truisms" and get it in their mind they are the only way to go.

This is a passing game may be true, but the idea just anyone can run the ball, or do so behind this line and have success is absurd. Football hasn't changed that drastically.

Always liked the pick, never been a believer that any running back can run behind this line...maybe we could have got the defensive help we needed instead of Zeke, and the running back in a later round, but Zeke is a game changer both running and as a receiver...he's only 21, going to enjoy watching the next great Dallas back for the next 10-12 years...still hard to believe we got our franchise back and QB all in the same draft.

He's legitimately the best RB in football. Acquiring an elite player who will touch the ball 30 times a game is never a bad move. I can understand if folks had questions at the time of or before the draft. But seeing him dominate at this level should change that.

Zeke sucks and we could of had Wentz!! Just kidding, but if Romo had not been injured in preseason the draft could have looked like a bust when we took an offensive player. Now it looks better however the defense could have used a great pass rusher. If we go deep into the playoffs it will be the defense that gets us there. Dak and Zeke were good draft choices but a great DL would have been better. Next year if we have a great DL draft then this draft will look better to me.:)

A lot of RBs will run well behind this line. I mean, McFadden had 1K last year. But not just any RB will be special behind this line. Zeke is probably the most talented back in the league. There isn't a single oz of weakness to his game. I don't think they take any RB of the last ten years right there at 4, but this guy is a different story. He's truly elite, and like Garrett said at the time, having him helps the defense a ton. We would not be nearly as good at sustaining drives if it were most other RBs. The fact we do is integral. He was an A+++ pick. We aren't 6-1 with Ramsey right now.

There's no reason whatsoever for someone to still hold on to the narrative that Zeke wasn't the right pick.

It's clear he's head and shoulders better than Alfred Morris so the whole Alfred could do just as well has been debunked.

The secondary has been playing very well so looks like they didn't need secondary help as much as some thought. CBs are only as good as the pass rush in front of them anyway.

No other player taken is having as much of an impact for his team as Zeke. He keeps it up and he's winning ROY and probably going to be named All-Pro. If that isn't worth the #4 pick what is?

sigh - what is this jacked up desire to call out others for how they feel about something when it turns out they could be wrong? do you also come back and go HEY GUYS I MESSED UP WITH MY PICK when you're wrong?

pointless.
