Who still thinks Zeke was a mistake at #4?

There are many of us who thought Zeke would be productive but didn't think Zeke should have been the pick. It's pretty simple if you take a second to think about it.

Yeah but if you still think he should not have been the pick then you really have no clue what he has done for this team!

These same guys said Murray was done after his last year with Dallas.

Looks like 43 yards separate Zeke at 1 and Murray at 2. Far too many times people listen to these "football truisms" and get it in their mind they are the only way to go.

This is a passing game may be true, but the idea just anyone can run the ball, or do so behind this line and have success is absurd. Football hasn't changed that drastically.
Murray still a beast..Murray also has played 1 more game

I was against the EE pick. But not so vehemently against it that I wouldn't take him. I was not happy when we could have traded down to #6 and still gotten Zeke and used that to extra pick to get Paxton Lynch.

I thought EE would be productive, but it puts a lot of pressure in that he would have to be a 1,500+ yard back to justify the pick. The thing is that you can find very productive backs outside of the first round. The other issue is that the injury rate is very high for a RB. Even Alfred Morris, who is only 27 years old, looks nowhere near as explosive as he did when he was a rookie 4 years ago. That's still a concern for me with EE.

I thought EE was good, but I didn't know he was this good. I always get the feeling like I'm watching a prodigy out there. He runs a lot like Emmitt, but far more explosive and far better in the passing game and blocks and runs route in the passing game Roger Craig.

I also didn't expect the secondary to play this well and be this much improved. I'm not nutty about JJ Wilcox starting, but he's a far better player than he was a year ago. There's talk of Mo Claiborne being the highest rated CB in the league (I don't buy it, but that shows how much he improved). And Carr looks more than competent and Anthony Brown looks like a future quality starter.

Sometimes it's great to be wrong.

No way....He's was the best football player left on the board. I'm always a fan of that

Do you remember Emmitt in the passing game? He was excellent catching the ball and great in protection as well.!

There is no way you can say he is far better in the passing game.

sigh - what is this jacked up desire to call out others for how they feel about something when it turns out they could be wrong? do you also come back and go HEY GUYS I MESSED UP WITH MY PICK when you're wrong?

pointless.

Dude, the thread title asks who "thinks" Zeke was a mistake, not who "thought" he was one.

The "productivity" argument cracks me up. How is it any different than saying, "eh, we could just draft a guy in the second that will be a productive pass rusher and only get a few fewer sacks than a premier pass rusher?" This isn't about productivity -- Zeke is a game changer, period.

Emmitt was good in the passing game and a great blitz pickup guy. EE is a great blitz pickup player and far better as a receiver. I mean...he's amazingly good. And I'm as big of a Emmitt fan and defender as anybody out there.

Considering Ramsey averaged one INT a year in college, you may be asleep for a while.

You say they could have traded down a couple of spots as if it were an absolute. You can't assume trades were available. They probably did look at trading down and didn't like their options for that scenario. I also don't see how they could have ever pulled off a trade that would have landed them both Elliot and Lynch. Both guys went in the first round. They weren't getting two top 25 picks in the draft in exchange for the #4 pick.

There is always a rush to justify whether a draft is good or bad. So far Elliot looks good. I like him. I was happy with the pick. There were also some other good options at the time. I also know the NFL can be brutal and things will change in an instant. Time will be the ultimate judge on the matter. Hopefully that judgment will be good for Dallas.

The closest RBs to Zeke yardage-wise right now are Murray and Johnson, yet neither has had a bye week, hahaha!

Not a mistake but we were forced to make a tough choice. I thought he should have been a 10-15 pick in the first but he is what we needed so...

The Ravens confirmed that they wanted to trade up to #4 from #6 and their plans were to take Ramsey. Elliott, in an extreme likelihood, would have been there at #6.

I was more bothered by Garrett acting like an idiot in the draft war room wanting to put in the selection immediately. You have nothing to lose and everything to win by waiting.

One more game or no, this board declared him DOA after so many carries two years ago. Once again life proves armchair head coaches wrong.

True, man I said when they were playing the jags, Im so happy the eagles traded him.

I never thought he was a mistake and there is no doubt he is the best RB in the NFL. D Johnson's stock is dropping as they Cards move to their hard part of the schedule.

The ones who say yes are all about pride. Zeke is a beast.

Nobody said Zeke wasn't going to be a beast. We said RBs don't last as long and are easier to replace than other positions. Zeke has been a stud and has helped us more than Ramsey (or whomever) would have so far this season. But it's only been 7 games into year 1. We need to see Zeke stay healthy for 5 years and justify a 2nd contract before we say he was the right pick. It's just too early.

Ezekiel Elliott on this Cowboys team: "We’re a gritty bunch of guys. We’ve got chips on our shoulders."

He's got an ANVIL on his shoulders...literally. Dude's head looks like an anvil. Takes courage to tackle him in the open field. He's a more rugged, physical version of All Day. My god he's physical. I've watched NFL football since 1977 boys. Only guy I've seen run that hard and punish guys similarly was Walter Payton. That's IT.
