I think Moore and Mayowa will essentially be fighting for a spot on the 46 game day roster, since they are basically the same type of player. Backup RDE types who you don't want playing vs the run.

If they're the "backups", who's the starter?

I'd go with Maliek Collins if I want to play it safe, I think that guy could be our Warren Sapp in this defense. He was great as a rookie, and reports indicate he's even better now.

Betting the longshot, I'd go with Damontre Moore. He's had the ability since college, but his Bonehead decisions nearly derailed his career. If he continues to be this guy that "gets it", I think he has the pass rushing skill to not only make the team, but lead in sacks.

I like your thoughts on Moore and if anyone can get to him finally it's Marinelli

I think his family "got to him" as well.

I'm hopeful that the light has come on for him and he finally appreciates the opportunity he's been given. Based on the results so far, it looks that way, and Garrett said the same in one of his OTA press conferences. If he keeps that up, everyone could benefit.

Watch, it'll be Lawrence due to this being a contract year. Then we'll endlessly debate if it's worth re-signing him cause he somehow found a way to stay healthy and led the teams in sacks.

it will probably be Lawrence because in the NFL the number one thing that gets players going is money they always seem to find something when its a contract year

I think our sack leader will be DLaw. No suspension, something to prove after a down year, and if Taco and Mayowa man the right end, I think DLaw will have an excellent year on the left end where he belongs. If Collins and others draw the attention of C\Gs as expected, that's also in DLaw's favor. Without sharing snaps with Irving the first four games, DLaw has a chance to make that spot his.

If I had to take a guess I would say Collins or DLaw but to me even more important than who is leading in sacks is getting more guys putting pressure on instead of having 1 guy with 9 or 10 sacks and no one else getting pressure. Dallas needs to everyone contributing to getting in the face of the QB

If Collins leads our team in sacks, it will have been a very disappointing year for the pass rush.

I think you'll see a healthy DLaw give us 10+ this year. Collins with 6-7 but alot of pressures and pocket collapses. Taco with 8 as well.

I'll wait until I see him get and stay on the field before I count on him for anything. 2 back surgeries to 1 sack isn't a good ratio.

He's moved into "prove it" territory.

He was 1 sack off of the team lead last year, and reports say that he's improved even beyond that. I have more faith in Collins after one good rookie season than I do any of the other candidates, who have shown to be injured disappointments thus far.

Assuming no suspensions/injuries after Week 4, Lawrence at RE and Irving at LE.

I don't see it. If this team is counting on Lawrence as their RDE, especially after a 1-sack, 2 back surgery year, they've failed miserably.

I'll wait until I read some reports about Lawrence being able to practice before he's considered anything more than a rotation guy on the roster.

I believe Lawrence has the best chance if healthy in a contract year..... Otherwise its Collins....

I agree. Lawrence is my pick. I think he can get 10 if he stays healthy, but will be surprised if anyone else cracks that number.
