Who will play LT if Smith misses time during regular season

Every team we play would love to see tyler smith at tackle

Started a thread a couple of days ago on the idea of moving T. Smith to LG and having 1st round rookie Tyler Smith start day 1.

I was severely roasted by so many here that I had to take time away from this forum to let my feelings heal. It was brutal.

But just saw the news above that Smith is in a walking boot and experiencing tightness in his back at OTAs. Most likely this is just precautionary.

But what's the plan for oline if Smith misses games during the regular season?

Move Steele from RT to LT and Ball at RT?

That sounds more risky to me than having Tyler at LT and #77 at LG day 1.

They do have to figure out something though.

Yes Steele did struggle, yet Steele, with the one or two games at LT, he is the most experienced LT among the young guys we currently have here now

If Steele were to move to LT, than i'd suspect one such as Matt Waletzko would have to play RT.

We need to sign some Vet depth!!!!!!!!!!!

just a guess...i'd say tyler smith would move out to tyron's spot and mcgovern would man the og spot.
unless they sign a vet f/a ot.
maybe ball or waletzgo but i'd give the 1st rounder a look.

I would bring in Eric Fisher for a look-see.

It appears that’s the plan
I’d rather sign a vet or use a guy who can spend camp at tackle
Not a fan of trying to teach a rookie two positions all camp then have him start at the one he hasn’t played since high school
I’d rather smith spend this camp learning guard

It is not an IF Tyron misses, it's WHEN and for how many games. Since they will not trade Tyron, I prefer they choose a solid backup for the position and give him practice time. The o-line shuffling they did last year was a disaster, trying this guy here and that guy there is nuts. The o-line needs to be a cohesive unit.
