Mine is Jason Hatcher. I love the kind of attitude he brings when he's in the game and I love that he's actually pretty stout against the run as opposed to popular belief.

Here are the reasons I think he might win the starting job and that he'll be given more of a chance to this year.

1. He came into the league has a very raw player with a lot of potential. He's going into his 4th year now so this year should be very telling as he should be at the peak of his development. He has a skill set that better suits a one gap, stunting, slanting D-line that Spears.

2. Spears on his last Irvin show appearance said he was in a heated battle with Jason. With more of an emphasis on internal competition by our coaching staff, I think Jason would be given all the opportunity to win the job.

3. Spears is in a contract year and I think we'll do everything possible to find out what we have in Jason to make a better decision on who to keep. We don't want a repeat of what happened with canty. And even Bowen got way more playing time last year in order to prepare for Canty's departure.

4. I think him winning the job over Spears would compensate for the little rushing ability we'll lose between Canty and Olshanksy. And even if he's a little bit weaker against the run that Spears (which I think is false), the little run D advantage Igor has over Chris can make up for that.

5. Did I mention I liked him:(. Yeah, pet cat. Good enough reason for me:eek::

Offense I would say Austin and defense Jenkins.

I don't have one, but I hope Felix and Barber start int he same backfield at the same time over a FB or 2nd TE.

Pet player to make the team...Travis Bright from BYU. From Arizona, versatile, played in a good Offense to prepare for the NFL, isn't Cory Proctor. Lots to like about the kid.

Is that the Travis Bright kid? Looks to have good size and well prepared in terms of pass pro. But I don't know how much of a chance he'll be given especially since he never played RT in college.

Yes, Travis.

:banghead:

I have a friend named Jay Bright and put his name in there.

He doesn't have to play OT for me to have him as a pet cat. I didn't see that as a criteria at all. I hope he plays some backup Center and Guard.

Montrae Holland offense (I think likely)

Mike Mickens Defense (prolly not a chance)

Austin and Scandrick.

I'm a sucker for players with eye-popping atheleticism -- and when they turn out to be good football players too, the sky is the limit.

Not really a starting job, but I hope some way, some how Pat Watkins is off the team. Same thing with Cory Procter, but fat chance of that happening.

I think Mickens could start one day. I really liked that pick. By far my favorite.

Austin is mine on offense too. I've loved the guy since he's been a cowboy. But I've just been watching some Jason Hatcher game film and if he can extrapolate some of that over extended playing time then there's no telling how good this defense can get.

If anybody cares, they should watch the 2007 finale against Washington. Tough loss, but in a playoff atmosphere that was one of the most impressive games by any of our ends in the last 3 years that he turned in.

I bet the #1 answer would be Hawkins if he had won that TV show.

I think Mickens and DeAngelo Smith will replace Newman and Hamlin within 2 years.

I see Jenkins as the other starter and Scandrick as a slot guy (which is becoming another starter in this league) and primary backup for both sides.

I think Sensabaugh will get a 3 year contract from us after this year and we will draft a true strong safety next year.

I've never liked Newman. He's just never lived up to being the #5 pick when he isn't hurt with something.

Martellus Bennett as a starting 2nd TE/H-Back. Too talented to keep on the bench. Let Deon Anderson expend his energy on special teams.

He's not my pet, but I hope Austin stuts some people up about how we're going to rue the day we let go of the player.

That would be fantastic if that happened. I would love to be wrong about the lost production of Owens.

I do not think any single player on our roster will be able to do that ....

But I think that between Roy, Bennett, Austin, and a healthy Felix they will be able to replace it ..... and it will be much less predictable.

Sam Hurd is the player I would like to see start. It's not going to happen I know. It's also not beyond the realm of possibilty that he gets cut. That said, I just really like the guy.

I would not count Hurd out but much like Austin he has to be able to remain healthy. Both guys have shown promise but both have had set backs due to injury.
