I've never liked Newman. He's just never lived up to being the #5 pick when he isn't hurt with something.

Somebody missed the point of the thread. And missed how Newman actually plays. But then, I must have missed the part where Newman's hurt all the time, so I guess that's ok.

My pet cat: Kyle Kosier. Is that weird? ASU + he's a really underrated player. I'm worried that his injury might be career-threatening. Of the new guys, I like Mickens the best, and worry most about our OLB depth--not b/c I don't like either rookie, but I don't like going so thin on experience across the board behind Ware.

My pet player: Orlando Scandrick. I love the additude and emotion he plays with plus has the skills to back it up. I think he wins the starting job over Jenkins.

I hope Jason Williams or Hodge wins the nickel LB spot. I'm tired of the Carpenter experiment.

That's mine, too. It may not be a starting position per se, but it might as well be as much as the nickel is played these days.

But newnation, we think alike. I'm a big Hatcher fan, too. I don't think there are many of us left out here.

Miles Austin.

I think this would be the best outcome for the team -- if Austin can take Crayton's job it would really mean that he's got something legit.

Just one persons opinion. Nothing more.

I was more shocked by the quality of the opinion rather than the quantity ... if you get my drift

Felix Jones has been debating this very same topic with DaBoys4Life for quite some time. He thinks that DaBoys4Life would've posted Rashard Mendenhall as his choice, but felt that he's much too bashful to say so.

My "pet cat" would be Keith Brooking since I REALLY wanted us to draft him in 1998, but he's pretty much set as a starter already.

There really aren't a lot of starting positions open going into TC except at CB but I think the coaches are settled on Jenkins as the starter with Scandrick as the 3rd guy.

I'll go instead for a guy I hope makes the final roster and say, S Michael Hamlin. I really like his combination of size and ball-hawking skills.

He's not a lock to make the team. I don't think we'll keep more than 4 Safetys and with Ken Hamlin and Sensabaugh the starters that means only two from the group of Pat Watkins, Courtney Brown (or Alan Ball, whichever they are putting at Safety), DeAngelo Smith, Michael Hamlin, & Jerome Carter would make the team.

Both Smith and Hamlin would have to beat out the veterans in order to make the roster and I like both guys but they will really have to shine in order to do it.

Austin and Scandrick would probably be the two I'd really like to see win jobs and play great football this year.

I actually think Hamlin's in already, barring spectacularly bad TC play. The word I heard through the offseason was that he picked up things incredibly quickly. Something to the effect of 'We taught it in a meeting and later on that day, he did it on the field.....and he kept on picking it up...'

My guess is that only one of Courtny Brown, Alan Ball, and Watkins makes the team. Preferably only one of Brown or Ball.

The guy I want to see do well is Tashard Choice, because I think he's got a leader's attitude, and he just needs some on field performance to back it up.

Felix Jones.

The other team breathes a sigh of relief every time he isn't on the field.

Same here. I think that Smith and Hamlin are locks, barring injury.

Danny Amend-- I mean Kevin Ogletree.

In all seriousness, I'm hoping that it's Orlando Scandrick.

Take it to the bank. Michael Hamlin will be a perennial pro bowl player. The single most underrated player in the 2009 draft. I only wish we could have picked up his Clemson running mate Chris Chancellor also. Damn Dolphins beat us to the punch.
