Rogah your obviously an older man who likes to play Golf.
Wrong on both counts, but that's not really the issue.

Take away the word "old" and you just described every single pick up football or basketball game I have participated in anytime in the past 10 years. Just me and a bunch of guys with no athletic ability at all drinking beers and having fun.

I don't know why you think golfers are alone in having unathletic, out of shape men drinking beer and playing.

Kmp77 being good.... well Ok let's say i made up a sport where you had to throw little golf balls in tin can's 50 feet away. it would be extremly hard...but it wouldnt be considered truly athletic . that's my point ... I have no respect for a sport where there's no one truly opposing you, or trying to counter balance what your trying to do. Or a sport where your not trying to beat someone in a race of somekind. it has to have those elements to be really a sport. Otherwise it's more of a skill game . They should of said tiger woods best skill player of the decade, or just golfer. It's not athletic.

Look at Golf objectively... You stroll up to a white ball, you get to line it up perfectly, you can even yell at the crowd to shut up so you can focus, take your sweet time, feel the breeze of the ocean... and hit it. Golf to me is as pitiful as t ball haha.

haha roguh ok point well taken there.. I guess well have to disagree on this one. maybe when I get older, ill change my mind. I just don't like Golf , it just seems dorky. I think that's what Pro Golf, sports media wanted to change , they wanted to make Golf look cool with Tiger Woods. Like hey its ok if you can't play basketball baseball football or hockey, you can play golf like tiger!!!

It's WAYYYYY easier to throw/catch a football than to hit a golf ball 200+ yds and straight or hit a 60yd shot from the rough on to the green within feet of the pin. Of all the sports I've played, golf is the hardest to get good at.
that may be true but you have to be more athletic to throw/catch a football with guys trying to defend it than to hit a golf ball.

Why should an old drunk golfer look for his own ball when he can pay someone like you a few dollars to find it for him?

Do you really believe they are lazy or brilliant? After all, your the one carry their golf bags in the hot sun, while they drink, and have fun.

If it's so easy to do, then why aren't you making millions of dollars doing it?

Actually, the hardest thing to do is NOT cuss after you hit a golf into the woods/water.....easily 100x harder than trying to avoid linebackers :)

Here's the flaw in your logic: You people keep talking about how easy it is to "hit a golf ball". What you fail to realize is how easy it is to hit a golf ball well.

I'll tell ya this: If you made me a WR on an NFL team and told the QB he had to treat me like any other WR, I would eventually catch a pass. It might take a game or two, but sooner or later I would do it. But I will never in my life hit a golf ball 300 yards. And neither will you.

Rogah I could easily say you will never throw a football 70 yards. I could make up any sport, and create that sort of scenario. Golf was made for retired old men. It's not for the young, the vibrant, the truly gifted athlete. Tiger wood's can do one thing well hit an stationary ball very far.... that's it . I don't see anything overly talented about it plain and simple. It's all hype, all propanganda to tell those with diminishing athletic skills, they can still play a sport.

I have just as much respect for a bowler as I do for a golfer, which isn't much.

I really don't understand people who put Michael Phelps ahead of Usain Bolt. I tell you the multiple swim events thing is such a crock.

It's so much harder (unbelieveably hard) to win 3x Gold in the 100m, 200m, and the relay than it is to with 8x swimming gold medal. And that isn't to diminish Phelps, just saying.

It's funny you say that because in my field of work (mathematics) I run into a lot of people who don't follow sports AT ALL (a guy I know didn't even know who Tiger Woods was before the scandal broke).

And they say the same thing... about ALL sports. And of course it's true. Few things (if any) in this world have any inherent value in them, it's all about the value we invest into it.

In other words, celebrating a person's ability to hit a golf ball is just as arbitrary as the ability to run really fast or jump really high/far or whatever. Arguing such things is pointless. I'll never be able to convince my colleague that he should watch sports with any sort of emotional attachment like we do. And you'll never be able to convince someone who follows Golf that it's less worthwhile a pursuit than any of the arbitrary crap you do.

You've demonstrated your ignorance several times in this thread, the above post being no exception.
