Why are people calling for T-New to be replaced?

He had a great year, way above average. 3 Forced Fumbles and 3 Interceptions and a pick 6 that put the Panthers game away ill buy anyday.

Great year? I'm not sure about that, he was terrible on crucial 3rd downs this year. Third and long too. I don't think he needs to be replaced but he definately needs to play better..

Who wants to replace him with what?

He is still a very good CB.

There has always been a small faction of Cowboys fans that absolutely hate TNew no matter what he does. He does have his moments when he loses his concentration and his tackling could use some work but it would be hard to find someone better than him. We lucked out with Jenkins falling to the bottom of the first. He could have easily gone in the top 10 and probably would have in most drafts.

He can't tackle. And when he does go for a tackle, he gives up way to much ground to the ballcarrier. Instead of attacking the receiver, he backs up so much cause he's afraid of getting juked.

He had a stretch of good games in the middle of the season, but thats about it. And like people have said, terrible on third downs.

He plays lights out against steve smith of the panthers, but then gets beat by lesser known receivers. Perhaps thats because when he plays steve smith, he always has help with a safety shadowing smith as well

He has a terrible attitude, constantly injured and is a very inconsistent player. This is exacerbated by his jock riders that proclaim he's some kind of second coming level CB, when he's "good" at his best. It's very easy to dislike him.

QFT.

People probably can't find more than a handful of plays to gripe about Newman this year, and I love the "he can't tackle" BS. They must watch different games than I do.

Is he one of the all-time greats............. No probably not.

Do we have, or will we be guaranteed (in the draft or FA) to get, better.......Definitely not.

It's the first time for a while we have had two good corners

Those who want to get rid of him need to look at who is replacement would be....Scandrick. Now he had a terrible year. Unless Scandrick suddenly starts to get it or returns to his rookie level Newman is the a better choice.

Pretty sure drafting his replacement would be good for development but let 41 go down next year and people will see how vulnerable the Cowboy's secondary is without him.
They need another starting quality CB to challenge Scandrick and fill in for TNew (or the slot) when he is done in the next 2-3 years. I think Ball is better at safety.

I do not think he should be cut. However, I do think he needs to earn his starting spot next year. He should compete with Scandrick and anybody else on the roster. He will probably win the spot, but competition can only make everybody better.

Let's be coy, Dallas doesn't have a great secondary with Terriblance. They're already vulnerable.

It was not the good plays he made, it was the bad plays he allowed. I think the emergence of Jenkins put Newman in a new light due to the fact that Jenkins was consistently making plays. Jenkins was knocking down passes and making interceptions on what seemed to be every time the ball was thrown his way. Newman has a habit of allowing catches to be made in front of him.

I'd say his age and injury history might have caught up with him a little bit, but he has never had the raw killer instinct some other corners have. It might be time to put him into a competition with Scandrick or a possible rookie corner, if we draft one in the upper rounds.

While I think a lot of Cowboy fans have over rated Newman for a while now, he is still a very good corner and those dont grow on trees. No way is he going anywhere.

People always think grass is greener somewhere else.

It's not until you lose a good CB and can't find an adequate replacement do people realize how valuable he is.

Probably the same fold who want All Pro playing in 22 starting positions.

I'm not sure he can be "Replaced" next year but I want us to draft a corner in the top 4 rounds again. You can never have enough good corners in this passing league today. He has about three, maybe 4 good seasons in the tank barring major injury but bringing in another young stud will increase his production. Competition makes ya try harder imo...
