Why are people calling for T-New to be replaced?

Out of Scandrick,Jenkins, Newman,Sensabaugh,Hamlin, Ball.. Newman had more big hits this year then any other DB. So if Newman is soft, then our entire secondary must be.

Big hits? REally? I remember one game he had a good hit after missing about three or running along side an offensive player with the ball hoping he'd fall down by the grace of god.

Ok, then they are all soft.

He had three big hits this year, all of them were forced fumbles. Nobody else in the secondary besides Sensabaugh had a single big hit all year long.

He had a great year, way above average. 3 Forced Fumbles and 3 Interceptions and a pick 6 that put the Panthers game away ill buy anyday.

New Man (no pun intended) Syndrome.

Everyone is looking a Jenkins and the playmaker he was, and Newman has diclined a bit but he is still well above average.

Wanting to get rid of newman is poor rationale!

Newman is a very good #2 corner, I think most fans are just hard on him for his lack of ball skills.

it's not because of his play this past season, which was solid, not " great ". It's because of his contract.

Look at his salary and compare it to his play. You'll see he's making way too much for his contributions. If you don't believe it, then take off the T-new rose color glasses and ask yourself this question:

If the Cowboys release him today, how many teams would line up to sign him for the same contract ? If you know the answer to that, go ahead and name them.

Now, forget about next season. The Cowboys, because there's no cap, can easily carry anybody ( making anything ) they want. The question is what happens in 2011 ? or 2012 ? or even 2013 ( if by a miracle he lasts that long ), when T-New's contract stays pretty much the same, only his skills have diminished even more ?

Answer: the Cowboys will cut him and that's fine.

Only when they do, there will most probably be a salary cap in place, perhaps a much harder cap, and the Cowboys will end up regretting not ending his contract while it didn't affect it. I guarantee you that at least the fans in here would be screaming their hearts out asking why wasn't it done when the Cowboys had the chance.

Jenkins was great in coverage but I dont recall many big hits at all from him.
I remember one game (I think the Falcons) where he laid someone out. I mean bad. Then the defense started laying people out left and right. It reminded me of RW31 in his prime.

Who cares about his contract. There might never be a salary cap again.

No way does Newman get cut unless Jerry loses what is left of his mind. You don't throw out a very good CB. I like Scandrik, but I don't think he would outplay Newman.

Ideally, I'd like to see Scandrick given a chance to win the job. He's start at left corner and Newman would cover the slot, which he is excellent at.

I look at who is calling for him to be cut or dumped and I am relieved. No one with any judgement.

Scandrick is not starting caliber. At least not the way he played last season.

Newman is a top ten corner in salary only. Right now he is slightly above average in in my opinion, he is very good at straight line covering like deep sideline routes but has a tendency to bite on stop and go patterns. While watching him one thing jumps out his awareness and ball skills are not up to his pay grade and he is not a money player in the clutch, far to many times he has given up the big play at the wrong time in crucial moments.
