Why Are People Freak'n Out Over Preseason Games?

Some of the same people griping about those criticizing the team for its sloppy play and crying "it's just preseason", are lauding the play of certain players in other threads.

You can't have it both ways. Praising good play is no different from criticizing poor play for the "it's just preseason" crowd. Since no one is really trying out there, the good doesn't matter either, right?

Yeah, they jump from side to side as needed. Romo was mid season sharp on 3 passes last week. But this week? Do over! LOL.

I would bet to a man no one puts that much stock in pre season. We can still hope for a decent showing. Our opponents seem OK so far.

Yo know, playing without penalties is something we should only expect from our starters. Just like last year -we'll just sign a no penalty contract and fix that mid season. Right now is for staying injury free and finding our 6th WR/CB.

4 Game losing streak. Forgot what it was like to see the Cowboys win a game. Same crap that killed us last season, still haunts this season, that is worrisome.

Because people freak out when the Cowboys lose. It doesn't matter when.

Why is this so surprising to some people?

Please don't tell me that during the game if you watched it that you never cussed or got angry at a mistake made. Please don't tell me that your blood pressure never changed. Please don't tell me that your life, home, and attitude had perfect feng-shui.

You tell me that I may have to kill myself. Or at the very least hang my head in shame because I openly admit, stupid mistakes piss me off even if it is pre-season.

I don't care about losing in pre-season. I care more about the injuries. I care about seeing the backups perform.

I'm satisfied with the pre-season so far, but I'm not shocked that some people aren't. I quit believing in faery tales a long time ago.

When you have a huge emotional investment in something or someone (as is the case with most fans on this board, including myself), this is always going to be the case.

Like my old highschool coach use to say, "It's when I STOP yelling at you is when you should be concerned because that means I have given up on you!".

so if you want to beat yourself up about something NOW you have a GOOD reason because the fact that we lost BUT KEPT THE KEY PLAYERS SAFE FOR REAL GAMES!~ means that TODAY we only have some STUPID (act and no thought) PENALTIES to worry about (we can expect that from NEW players to the NFL remember changing leagues Also means Changing RULES!)but what we do not need to worry about thanks to wades decision is T.O or Romo getting hospitalized game over before you get started

It's not surprising, it's just annoying... as I have said over and over, it does have one advantage, it lets you know which posters in here really don't understand the game of football, so you know whose posts you shouldn't take too seriously...

There are a lot of annoying things Bear old buddy. One of them would be for people not to be able to explode now and then. Think of it as gas. It smells bad, but it really isn't all that dangerous. Just something to laugh at. Can be solved by a fan or holding the nose.

Sorry, ol' buddy, the only time I get upset at ANYTHING in preseason is when a player gets hurt... all the other mistakes, I just shake my head, maybe think to myself "well, he just played himself out of a job"...

You're a better man than I am Gunga Din. I get upset at announcers, refs, mistakes, and popcorn hulls between my teeth. You know how irritating those are?

Well, I'd kinda like to see a W next week, when the starters will get their longest exposure... that's the real dress rehearsal for the regular season... other than that, I agree with what you wrote in those last 3 sentences completely... I always put a little more stock in what happens in the next to last preseason game...

I don't care about a W in pre-season, although next week hearing the chest thumping of the ignorant Texans fans if they win might be worth it shut them up. They are like a hangnail that you can't stop playing with. It kind of hurts, but it kind of is enticing too.

I wouldn't be more excited if we were 2-0. I'm not discouraged that we are 0-2. I'm not annoyed at the chirping of Chicken Littles, not the over the top optimism or Pollyannas. All I have really paid attention to is the rookies and new pieces to the puzzle. My expectations have not changed.

I don't really care about the results of preseaon games, but I do look at performance. Right now we aren't playing well on any level. Maybe we can play like crap in these meaningless games and then come out like worldbeaters once we start for real. I'm not sure it really works that way though.

You're DEAD ON POINT! It's preseason and means absolutely nothing. Heck, most Vets don't even wnat to be out there. Preseason is all about the ROOKs and YOUNG guys. Winning, losing, or how our team looks in preseason means nothing about we'll look in the regular season.
