I mean, we pretty much have no clue how things will work out either way. Hot shot assistant? No clue. College coach? No clue. Safe retread? No clue. Old legendary coach? No clue. Pay a first for coach that has won before. No clue.
I mean, Andy Reid was kicked out of Philly and now he's a legend I guess. Did anyone know anything about Sean McWay before the Rams hired him? Okay, I'm sure some of you did. But that is no different from all the other hot shots that tried and failed.
So if you want to complain about JJ because he's the common thread here, okay. But no one knows anything at all about which coach will work or not. And if you think no coach will work, I guess that's fair too. But at the end of the day, hire whomever for all I care. I'll still watch and see what happens.
This is pretty much a “don’t hate the player (Schotty), hate the game (played by Jerry)” scenario.
The issue the general fanbase has is that this potential hire from within, for comfort and possible financial savings, without aggressively pursuing other highly sought-after candidates, is part of the very predictable Jones modus operandi.
You are now a fan of the team having the longest drought in regard to NOT playing in a NFCCCG. That must tell you something. By Jerry wearing his blinders throughout this hiring process, he’s demonstrating that to him, change is not a good thing. It reminds fans that they shouldn’t get excited about free agency, and that they should prepare themselves for the inevitable, “we don’t have any money”, excuses that will be coming from the Jones camp.
You’re right in stating who knows what some of these unproven coaches may bring. It is to some degree a guess, but I would consider them educated guesses. As for Jerry, he needs to realize that his methodologies have faults and be willing to step outside of his comfort zone and consider doing something, anything, different for once.
Based on resume, I’d say Schotty isn’t the guy but could surprise everyone by somehow stumble-farting his way to success. You’re right – who knows? Still, the Jones’ owed it to the organization and the fans to launch a Desert Strom type offensive to procure the next head coach of America’s Team. They haven’t and have once again opened the door for people to ask, “How much do you really care about winning?”
