Why Are People Not Livid About Mara's Penalty?

Because Mara pushed this on Goodell to hurt his NFC east Rivals. Cowboys and Commanders, can't spend a dime to improve their team this year. plus people forget this fact. THEY PULL THE CRAP ON THE EVE OF FREE-AGENCY LAST YEAR. think about that Cowboys fans. they waited until the eve of free-agency last year to do this. which means they want to damage the Cowboys and Skins.

5 Mil isnt doing anything for us this year. At best it gets us 1 free agent with a back loaded contract to push our cap hell even further.

If you want to make excuses with your rose colored glasses and pretend like things are fine thats your choice. I just don't see how you can fault people for criticizing a front office that has 1 playoff win since 1996. Any other GM in any other sport would have been fired 5x over by now, but we are stuck with our crappy GM. I think we have every right to complain....as long as we are still rooting come game time, which I still do every year despite the constant heartache .

And that's where Danny and Jones would have the league by the balls in a court of law. To punish two teams for "violating" a nonexistent rule (legally speaking) yet not punish teams on the other end of those same parameters is absolute BS and, without a doubt, selectively vicious towards two owners who just happen to be division rivals of the owner who initiated the penalty proceedings.

Guess it would be 5M less they had to restructure. So that's a plus.

Or $5 million more so that they don't have to extend already bad contracts (ahem Ratliff). I guess it depends on your perspective.

We fought it, and lost already. What more is there to do? Whine? We aren't whiner fans.

More melodrama yay
More poor understanding of accounting and reading yay

1) It's $10m. You can push free space forward and we lost $5m last year too. 5 +5 = 10
2) Backloading means that the cap hit is less not more. For example, Carr's cap hit was $3m last year. His AAV was $10m.

3/10 = 5/x > x = 16.7

IOW if we backloaded contracts like we did with Carr's we could sign $16.7m AAV total of contracts. IOW not just 1 FA unless it's Peyton Manning.

Again it's $10m. We lost $10m over the last two years and you can push free cap space forward.

Oh, that's right.

$10M they wouldn't have had to restructure with Ware, Romo and Austin as they have done for the last 3 years.

So that is a really big plus!

Jerry and Snyder are cream puffs. to let Mara punk them and damage their teams like this without fighting it, is just sickening.they have just stood there and took it. they let the Gaints Owner and Goodell, do great damage to their teams.they both are cowards in my book.

I don't disagree that it is futile. But the same thinking that a groundswell of complaints will sway the Jones family has about as much merit as the same complaints going against the NFL. Either one in theory can change their mind.

If the Cowboys had really wanted to fight, they would have upped the ante by signing Andrew Luck and challenged the NFL to go to court to enforce the draft. It probably would have resulted in a settlement, if nothing else. But our front office doesn't want to fight.

Don't forget Witten either. That will happen every year from here on out. You might as well get used to it. As long as we don't trade away draft picks like the Commanders then all it is is an accounting trick that works.

The bottom line is that we would not be in a position to need to sign Romo or Spencer to make deals had that not been done. We would have $10m in cap space.

What do you want to bet we have no issue resigning Lee next year?

:lmao2: cap hell

If trying to get another super bowl is more important than fighting for your team. we are in worst shape than i thought. it's just sad what was done to these two teams. and pitiful these two two owners did not fight for their teams.

I'm livid about it still, but the team doesn't seem very interested in pursuing legal action, so there's nothing you can really do besides just forget about it and move on, or sit back and hope the Commanders decide to fight it.

Unless anyone of us has the balls to run up on Mara and the NFL, hold them hostage or do whatever it takes to get the money back....there is crap we can do.

A more realistic view is, we can just sit here and cry to the heavens all day....decide to end life...or just accept it and move on.

I doubt they will.

However, constantly restructuring just to keep the the roster they have when it's severely deficient isn't exactly comforting.

Lee's a good player. They'll make room. They'll also likely continue on with lesser players at certain areas just hoping it works out this time.

I don't think they're cap hell by the way. Not really sure what cap hell actually is.

Perhaps you can tell us what cap hell would look like.
