Why are we taking so much risk on our roster when we are supposed to be contending in the NFC

At kicker we have a totally unproven guy that even if he turns out good will at best be as Gould last year and at worst kills our season?
At runningback we are putting all our faith that Pollard stays healthy and if he gets hurt then what we have no proven backs behind him?
At oline we have 5 good starters but any injury and it will immediately fall apart?

We have 18 million dollars in cap money? Make one year deals? There is legitimately no excuse to take so many risks on what should be a contending team. To me it feels like they want to be competitive but don't want to take the necessary steps to actually push us over the top.
A starting quality free agent OLineman is not going to sign up to be a backup.

Pollard has been healthy for months.

When you start having to pay a very good core of players something has to give and it's the quality of depth.

We're not talking big dollars to get a decent #2 RB and a kicker.

And we could fix our game day oline depth problem with a phone call to Peters. He was a *good* olineman at every position he played last year. Maybe they've had a handshake deal on that all along. Hope so.

How about drafting for needs?
Just a thought....
They did Draft an OL and a RB.

I don't know how long you've been following the team, but O-line and kicker have been ongoing issues for a while. And Jerry could have picked up a veteran lineman prior to April. We've sign a 5'5" back who looks to be special, but we don't have a short yardage guy who can move guys. At this point I will see where we are in January before I applaud Jerry.

Almost 50 years.

I wasn't applauding anything, I said they drafted those positions. And Asim Richards is looking like a good pick at 5 and Deuce looks like he will play a significant role at 6.

We did pick up a veteran OL, Edgoa, who is currently injured. Which Vet OL would you have liked them to sign?

We did pick up a vet RB who can pick up yards between tackles, who is also hurt and suspended.

I think Pollard and Dwoddle can both pick up the dirty yards. The RB position has greatly been devalued and you've got Pollard on a 10 mil deal, they did address it, maybe not to your liking, but don't pretend resources have not been allocated to Ol and RB.

5th and 6th round. Those aren't serious picks for contributions this year, particularly for OL.
And yet, both likely contributing this year.

Before Injuries both the FA Ol and RB signed were planned contributes too.
