Why can't Cowboys be beast of NFC east again?

After watching the preseason games so far, I have to say:

Eli and the Giants are going to be really bad. Maybe worse than last year. What has happened to Eli anyways? He looks real uncomfortable in new scheme. Oline is going to be an issue. I'd be surprised if they were better than .500. Coughlin will be looking for a job next year.

Fact: Romo threw 31 TD's last year. That matches Eli's best year since he was drafted.

Washington may be the most improved team. Their defense always gives Dallas fits. I was hoping Hasslet would have been let go with previous regime. But RG3 is going to get hurt again. You can see it coming.

Fact: Commanders only Superbowl wins came in strike shortened seasons and should have an asterisk next to them noting such. I hate the Skins so much, I'm going to use their Native American offending name all year. Take that Phil Simms.

Philadelphia's defense does not look much improved over last year, and Dallas had success playing ball control against them in both games. Foles release is slow and he's going to take sacks. He's also going to miss Jackson more than you think. Jackson drew double coverage. If Shady goes down the party is over. They're also the media's chosen ones after barely winning the division against a team with a backup QB and no defense. Too much added pressure.

Fact: Chip Kelly had previously never as a head coach had a team keep him out of the end zone for an entire half of football until the Cowboys did it in Philly last year..

Until the Cowboys stop beating themselves it will be the same thing. They should have won the East the last 3 years. There really is no excuse for it....bad defense aside. This team should have been in the playoffs. Now winning in the playoffs is another thing.

i don't get all of the Philly love, i really don't.. seems like every media outlet is picking them not just to win the East, but run away with it. the ****?

to me Foles is still unproven. If he comes crashing back to earth McCoy will get the Adrian Peterson treatment (8-9 in the box) and their offense becomes anemic, then what?

i like our chances this year and I'm usually a pessimist. I hate our defense so much i could chew nails, but we have to roll with what we've got. If our offense lives up the hype our defensive ineptitude could be moot. I think this division could easily be won with 8 wins

Everyone loves Philly every year. This has been going on since the McFlabb years. People talk about the Cowboys underachieving. The Eagles have done nothing but underachieve for decades and they still get the media's love.

I don't care about how many yards we give up in looking at points. If our defense can generate turnovers and once in a while force a 3 and out or just a punt a few times we will win. I can see us sweeping the division

The Eagles have been anointed, preseason, for quite a few times...but never quite lived up.

No way we sweep the division. That's incredibly hard to do even for NE.

Many of us are critical of the current state of the Cowboys..and justifiably so. But if a few things had panned out like they should on "paper"....we would run away with this division. If Mo lived up to the #6 overall pick...if Lee could stay healthy....and if Carter played like the 1st round grade that we had on him...this division would be ours for the foreseeable future. Our offense is going to be fine...but those are 3 major young pieces that should be coming into their own right now...and they are all question marks.

And this to me is the biggest reason to be critical of the HC. A good HC would have gotten his team in the tournament at least once, if not twice or even 3 times. But Not Once? I dont care what is being built, there is no justifiable excuse for not getting it done 3 yrs in a row!

Been waiting like 17 yrs and still counting. There has been far too much waiting and seeing.

Good point.
Especially when you get into a win-and-in situation three years in a row and lose every single one.

I'm not a Debbie Downer on Garrett (not saying you are), but this is real and should be accounted for.

It's winnable, but we have fielded historically bad defenses for 2 years in a row. It doesn't look like we have improved in that area. It is going to be tough to win.

Commanders went 14-2 in 1991 on their way to beating the Bills in the SB.
