Why did it take the Schottenheimer hire for fans to cancel their season tickets?

People were pissed when Landry was fired and Jimmy was brought in too.

This is exactly like that.

Look for a massive trade haul for Rico Dowdle and away we go.

Oh, he'll just move the ring of honor from the stadium to a corner of the parking lot as retribution. He's not going to be swayed by ex-players.. Jerry is still angry about the GB loss. That's why he did nothing last offseason. That's why he made MM twist in the wind, and talked about incentive based contracts all season. That's why he waited to sign Dak. He wanted Dak to go through the offseason wondering about his future with the team as some kind of way to motivate him. it's a real sh-show. We might actually get passed by the Giants too next season if Jerry chooses to do nothing again.
It would take a combination of factors to even possibly pull the trick. I agree former players' criticism by itself will not accomplish anything. Jerry Jones' mindset will be hard to sway, period. However, nothing will affect him while he is still breathing if nothing equals zero effort.

That said, I completely agree with Jones' retaliating for feeling pressured by former players--although I do not think it will be something as drastic as moving the Ring of Honor. I can *see* him being petty enough to think up something like re-locating the names of targeted ROH inductees to commemorative plaques in a central area inside the stadium. Or distributed throughout the stadium like art pieces.

I put nothing past an individual, who can tell his old college friend and teammate that he would put him in the Ring for decades and renege on purpose. The man even had the unmitigated gall of explaining Tex Schramm had advised him to do it for years, lol.

I get the Dak hate. I'm not a Dak fan either. But to say he is slightly below average is ridiculous.
you’re right he’s waaaay below average . stats don’t matter when you pad them against teams cooper rush could beat at a fraction of the cap hit. Dak is a terrible qb incapable of beating good teams hardly ever even with great rosters. Hes literally the biggest cap hit in the nfl this coming year .

Huh??? He freaking sucks.
I'm not going to defend him. It's not in my DNA. But I recognize saying he is slightly below average just isn't true.

By the time he retires he will have been a starting QB in this league for over 10-12 years.

Yet, here you are, lol
I don’t get the “here you are” narrative. What’s that got to do with boycotting throwing any money JJs way? Please explain. I haven’t spend a penny on anything Cowboys in 10-15 years.

It's not that easy to just cancel your season tickets. When you purchase you enter a 30-year contract to purchase the PSL's (Personal Seat License) on top of buying season tickets every year. So to get out you have to sell your PSL's or just lose everything you put into them.
This is true. But, I think if Jerry sees a big spike in PSLs for sale, that alone might cause him a bit of panic. Right now, there only 479 Cowboy PSL's for sale on the largest market place. That's nothing. If that number spikes to 10K, that sends a message that fans are getting fed up and threatens his wallet.

I would have thought that fans would have done that back in september when Jerry rewarded a average to slightly below average QB with a 4 year deal right after he played like POOP in his last game. Thats when I checked out because that confirmed he has no interest in winning
Why would you cancel season tickets, when you can make $$$$$$$$$$ off them selling to opposing team's fans..................LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! I can see it now, JJ laying in his casket in his PERSONAL SUITE, the Cowboys are playing the Eagles and the whole place is filled with opposing team's fan.......what a GREAT sendoff that would be for our lousy owner.................LOL!

At one time Dak was a good, but not great, NFL QB.
But he has regressed to whatever it is he is now.
He was never good.

Grading him like that is an insult to all the other good QBs who played or still play in the NFL: Burrows, Elway, Josh Allen, Aikman.... you name them.

Dont make the mistake to grade him by some stupid stats somebody pulled out who has no clue how to interpret them.

Or even better: those idiotic question with 3 or 4 stats by two unkown QBs. With the question: Whod you take?

In his best times Prescott was an below average NFL QB at best.

I didn’t know you could do that. Thank you for clarifying.

No problem, my partner at work has season tickets with his dad. He told me they weren't renewing the tickets this season. When I asked him about it he said they retain the license so they can go right back to it next year if they want.

Thats the only reason I know lol. I aim for a game a season, but decided Jerry wasn't getting a dime from me after last off season. No merch and I stream games only.

Because fans have run like lemmings to the "horrible hire" cliff. He was not a horrible hire, just a buncha sheep running in the same direction.
So if he isn't a horrible hire then what would you call it, a homerun hire? Or at least an upgrade that is above avg and will nudge the needle forward? Or a mediocre to below avg hire?
