Why did we have to trade R. Switzer?

Can someone give me the download here? He seemed to be developing nicely, we may have had a different vision for him but I see this being the next Danny Amendola situation where he goes on to have a good career in the NFL.

I'm not about to rue the loss of Switzer in view of all the boneheaded mistakes he made throughout his rookie season. Sure, he made one nice TD on a kick return, although it was counteracted upon by mistakes that were dramatically costly. Let's just hope the trades that followed Switzer's removal are reasonably successful enough to make us appreciate the changes that followed his dismissal. It's yet to be seen if that's the case or not.

Switzer wa as complete waste except for one punt return and one kick return.

The coaching staff apparently really likes Jihad Ward. Let's hope they're right about him, cause we really need good DT play.

Switzer was a nice player to have, but we already had a better version in Beasley and now another better version in Tavon Austin.
J Ward is another 3 technique. We already have a million. His ceiling is a poor man's David Irving

Number crunch at WR meant Somebody was gonna get cut, Oakland offered Us a chance to get Something in return.
If Ward sucks, We can get rid of Him at no cost, if He doesn't, We got some value for a player We were likely gonna cut anyway.

We had to make room for Jihad Ward.

You are just repeating what a million other armchair scouts have read. You did not scout this guy in person so stop trying to sound like you did. That goes for the rest of you armchair scouts. According to Rod Marinelli, Jihad Ward can play the 1 tech... he'd know because he got to know him during his coaching stint at the 2016 Senior Bowl. The Raiders had him playing as a DE which IMO, is out of positon.

Slot receivers are a dime a dozen. Defensive tackles aren't.

lol, defensive tacklkes with 30 tackles and 1 sack in two years are a dime a dozen as well.

Let’s not pretend Ward hasn’t been a complete disappointment so far, he’s far from a sure thing.

He brought out a bunch of kickoffs and punts that he should have not returned. I'm sure the coaches were on him about it, but he kept doing it.

I think part of the reason he was traded, is that the coaches didn't like him because he didn't seem to take to coaching too well. JMO

Let's not pretend Jihad wasn't playing out of position, either. He's an interior D lineman, not a DE yet where did Oakland play him? Switzer got upgraded so we didn't need him anymore. Our coaches fell in love with Ward at the 2016 Senior Bowl and have had an eye on him every since then. They will use him properly so hold you tongue and just watch how he does here rather than condeming him before he even takes the field.

He was no longer needed after acquiring Austin and he seemed to be balking at their desire for him to be a RB on 3rd downs. One knock on him was that he had a cocky off putting attitude. I think that showed up a little as well. They didn't go into the draft looking to trade him. They acquired Austin and their previous special teams coach came calling for Switzer. Ward was a player they liked 2 years ago and decided to pull the trigger.
