Why didn't Hooker try to advance that interception?

He pinned us deep in our own territory and could've backfired on us .
Punting from the end zone . Not good.
I thought the same thing
Get up and advance it.
The game was not over.
You got to play with higher football IQ.

Best thing he could do is secure the ball. The worst thing is he could fumble. He did the right thing.
In hindsight yes. But it was a bigger risk not advancing it than picking up yards. We dodged a bullet

Correct if there's traffic. My biggest gripe is that NO ONE was near him and the Rams were either dejected at the int and or assumed he was down somehow. Even if you get to the 10-15 and just slide with two hands on the ball. Obviously I'll take it... was just really bizarre given there wasn't a Ram in sight.

Players are taught to go to the ground on game ending interceptions rather than risk a turnover at the hands of an offense desperate to get the ball back.

Agreed . The offensive player was right there you take your turnover thank you Matt Stafford and move on. Wasn’t a lot of real estate to move and a fumble that deep in your own end would have been a disaster .

In moments like these you either have your wits with you ans keep going or just stay down. Maybe it took everything out of him to make the play. Probably assumes hed get tagged down within a second and it took longer than he thought i dunno. But had he stood up abd lost the ball we'd say how dumb he was. Made the safe play, and it was still a great play.

That wasn't a game ending interception. There was over 3 minutes left on the clock.

Who cares? Big freaking deal. Maybe he is smart and didn't want to risk a fumble.

He have tons of green all around him. It was downing the ball that deep in our end of the field that was the bigger risk .

Chance of fumbling near the opponent's goal line. Rams were desperate and we were ahead by 12. Time needed to be drained, It was and we won,

The Rams had another possession after that. Game ending interceptions happen when you can run out the clock or run off the field.
Semantically speaking, yes. However, we had a cushion and time was running out. Of the two gambles, I supported this one. And, he might have been given strict instructions to down the ball.
