It's not hollow. Weeks 9-17 show an obvious uptick in passing vs running. This happens when we play good run defenses. Which is fine, but he still calls these drawn out designs that make Dak have to go thru 4 or 5 progressions before throwing the ball. He is really bad at adjusting to what the defense is doing, and once we're on our heels it's even worse. Instead of 2 TE sets, play-action etc we just go 5 wide and make it obvious. I'm not saying he's an awful coordinator, I just think this offense could be better with a more experienced coach. Take that for whatever.Your words ring hollow. I can say anything with zero info to support it.
Here... It is Quinns pathetic play calling that is killing our defense.
Kellens offense stats :
#20 in pass yards
#3 in interceptions
#22 in passes over 40+ yards
#23 in passes over 20+ yards
#14 in YPC per run
#12 in 1st down %
why cherry pick stats that Kellen is doing good at ?
the bottom line is WATCH THE GAMES, stats are easy to mis interpret.
If you WATCH THE GAMES, you will understand why Kellen has no offers by other teams, and has no offers by college teams.
He doesn't need replacing, he needs advisement, coaching up. I have no idea how you got to replacing him. Why do you think he needs replacing?
Makes so sense to me. The team is averaging 36 points per game since Dak got back and he was rusty against Detroit. The team is averaging 28.1 points overall with Dak and Rush combined. I don't get it. Is he perfect. No. But you show me one OC that is. He is an excellent OC in my opinion.
Think about this. The Cowboys just dropped 40 points on a top 2 defense. Let that sink in.
Like our SHOULD BE!
We leave a lot of drives with 3s instead of 6s.
Dallas is 2nd in all NFL in Red Zone Scoring percentage. Might not be what you think works--but it does.
If you think this team has top 3 offensive weapons....your opinion is living on a deserted island.
Yes, yes they really are.
Shanahan is not for hire. For grins the comparison:
2022: Moore's offense > Shanahan's offense in yards and points
2021: Moore's offense > Shanahan's offense in yards and points
(Don't get my wrong, I'd love Kyle Shanahan as HC in Dallas)
Yet these fans see us score 40 points and think we're doing well, get real!! Great post sir
Good stuff.
I'm not nearly as versed w/ the Xs and Os as you are, but the stuff I see is maddening. Forcing 30-40 yard passes for no reason. Running out of the shotgun way too much. Throwing long passes on 2nd/3rd and short.
I honestly don't think KMo understands what long drives does to the opposing team, and the negative effects quick scoring can have on your team. ATL found out in the super bowl vs NE. I don't think their D could've stopped a HS team in the 4th. That was actually a good D, and they were completely gassed.
Like you said, a feel for the game/situation/personnel appears to be just lacking in his mind.
thanks ,
Just look at his results :
#20 in pass yards
#3 in interceptions
#22 in passes over 40+ yards
#23 in passes over 20+ yards
#14 in YPC per run
#12 in 1st down %
we are so far behind in passes over 20+ and 40+ in the league table, it just adds to "Kellen is a terrible playcaller ."
however, for the season nearly even in run vs pass balance and well having 2 RBs close to 1k shuts that debate down..ie doesn't run enough,, hmm they have to call plays in situational football not shut good run ds, its being down 10 twice against the eagles, other games behind the chains with high penalty games, 3rd and long well you get it.It's not hollow. correct, Happens to all teams...I think as a collective a top 5-10 QB, a top 5-10 WR, a top 3 RB tandem and a top 5 Oline gives you no worse than top 5 talent overall. That talent will boat race crappy defenses and struggle against good ones. Thing is, most everybody struggles against good defenses.. That's why they call 'em good defenses. What you can't do is go from 45 points against a chump defense to struggling to put up 17 against good defenses. The swings cannot be that drastic. That's why what Dak and Co. pulled off against Philly was so encouraging. That's a good defense.. and maybe the best pass defense in the league fronted but either the best or second best pass rush in the league. To hang 40 on that bunch was impressive. Yes scores came off short fields from turnovers.. but the rest had to be earned. If they show the capability to do that to another top shelf defense.. say Washington, then I will feel a lot better about their chances in the playoffs.. and a lot better about Kellen Moore.
so its all the players fault?Because every play he calls isn't a touchdown. We don't care how the execution of the play was carried out. whatever.
I like a lot of what he does, but he desperately needs a voice in his ear teaching him some very basic very important stuff.
Slow developing ANYTHING is a bad idea. The more time you give the D the worse it is.Don't forget calling shotgun plays with long slow developing routes on A 3RD AND 1 !!!!!!!
jeez !!
