How many QBs have had 4 straight perfect games in the playoffs. People need to accept that playoff defenses are typically badasses. Qbs almost never got to town in every game in the playoffs. Some completely poop the bed but get bailed out by other aspects of their team. Anybody remember Ruthlessraper's 27 passer rating in his first Super Bowl win? How about Brady's INTs on three consecutive possessions in the NFC Championship two years ago? Or better yet is 71 passer rating performance against the Rams in 2018? Or how about his classic 150 yard "masterpiece" in his first Super Bowl agaisnt the Rams? Or maybe Mahomes 78 passer rating with 2 INT performance against the 49ers while WINNING the Super Bowl?

I really wish people would move off this whole "This QB can carry his team" kick. It's just not true and I'm really getting tired of hearing it. Nobody is carrying 47 other guys. I really get sick of the media constantly foisting this brain dead narrative upon us. Yes the QB is the most important player on the team.. I get that.. but he aint winnin jack without some help. It's disrespectful to those 47 other guys to keep acting like they play no part in their teams' fortunes.

At the end of the day the Cowboys TEAM will need to play 4 straight great games to win it all. Dak is part of that team.. however he alone will not win or lose any game. Why is that such a hard reality for some to accept?
Well with that said, we are definitely in trouble because our defense sucks.

Playoff ball isn't about the QB having great games in a row, it's about defenses having great games in a row and QB's not screwing it up.

It is SF's D that makes them the favorite to go to the Big Dance, not their QB.

The AFC seems to be more about the QB duels with Allen, Burrow, Mahomes and Jackson if he's healthy. And Lawrence is just percolating on the back burner.

You'll find your answer when you realize Dak Hate is NOT about Football.....

Why does he need to perform great? Because the strength of this team is the pass rush and secondary together. What's the best way to emphasize that? Having an offense that starts well and puts pressure on the opposing team not to fall behind. It's one of the reasons why they prevailed against the Eagles. They kept them under pressure...and that pressure caused more passing, which resulted in 2 INTs.

I've said it before and I will say it again. You don't beat the Eagles and 49ers with defense. You beat them with offense. Both teams are simply too good to totally shut down. Too many weapons. Moreover, like it or not, the Eagles have arguably the best offensive line in football. Their d-line is currently performing better than Dallas. And you think that Prescott is not going to have to ball again at Philly in the divisional round (if they make it)? I think you better rethink that.

You nailed this one. The media is 100% to blame for the narrative that QB's carry their teams, QB's have records, ect.....ect.....ect....

Its literally fake news and most of the WW fanbase thinks this way because of it.

Most fans are literally QB challenged and have a false view of what football is really all about. It is the ultimate team sport.

Oddly though, with THIS current injury riddled defense the ONLY way we might be able to win it is if Dak were to do that for 4 straight games. Which isnt realistic. Especially with some of the defenses that will be in the playoffs.

A real quarterback- The Cowboys Quarterback, no less- should be expected to play 4 straight games at a high level against the best competition.
Dak was gifted the greatest job in football, and has yet to earn it. It's not unfair to demand that he play every game at a high level.
For the money he's being paid, he is required to be elite, but he's not.

Only thing that you said that I take a little exception with is Ruthlessraper….he was HANDED that Super Bowl in the biggest high jacked game of all time…7-8 absolutely TERRIBLE calls to HAND them the game…go back and watch it…it was criminal.

Um that was my point.. He played like steamin dawg poo and still got credited with "winning a Super Bowl." Why? Because his defense saved his bacon, along with the refs. My whole point is that the narrative that the only way a team wins a Super Bowl is that their QB is lights out every game in the playoffs is patently false. Somebody should tell that to Jimmy G. and his 7 pass attempts in the 2018 playoffs against the Packers.. SEVEN!

The examples to the contrary are many and varied yet people post it here damn near every day like it's gospel. "This team can only go to the Super Bowl if Dak Prescott plays mistake free, near perfect football." The fact of the matter is Dak can play absolutely perfect football and this can still lose if the defense gets trampled for 250 yards on the ground again. Because that will allow the other team to control the clock and keep Dak and the offense off the field. Or if he hits a receiver in the chest and has it pop up in the air and run back for a TD in the closing moments. Not that we've ever seen that happen before have we.

He demanded to be paid like the guy who can carry his team on his back

The playoffs is where you earn that kind of cash

Nothing more complicated than that

I understand what you're saying, and you're right most of the time with this. But people could be saying this because we're not good enough to carry our QB. Think of the 80s Broncos. It had to be all on Elway. He dragged that team to 3 SBs. Once he got to the SB the climb was insurmountable.

Dude stop.. Maybe you're not old enough to remember the Orange Crush defense bailing Elway out time and again but I am..

In Elway's first playoff win he was 13 of 32 (40.8%) for 257 yards 1 TD and 2 picks. But "won" the game. The following week in the AFC Championship against Cleveland he was almost as bad 22 of 38 244 yards 1 TD and 1 pick.. and would have gone home a loser if the defense doesn't force a goal line fumble at the end. Point being, if Dak put up those numbers people would be crucifying him and crediting the defense for "carrying him." Yet golden boy gets credited with "dragging that team" to the Super Bowl. It's weird how that works.

He demanded to be paid his market value. The Joneses would have been well within their rights to not sign him and let someone else pay him but make no mistake he was GOING to get that money. Guys who have accomplished a lot less in the NFL than Dak Prescott have gotten paid.. I saw no issue with Dak getting his.. Still don't.

Football is a team sport but the single biggest determinant of win/loss is QB play

yes, other parts of the team can help but there is a reason players who have been to and won multiple SBs are all time greats
I don't care what anyone says, Eli Manning and Terry Bradshaw were not "all-time greats".

Bradshaw tossed more INTs than TDs in his career.

Eli was the epitome of "average, durable QB who played forever." Was never once considered an "elite QB" during his career by anyone paying attention.

I'm with you on Eli but Bradshaw played in a different time and place. No way you can compare the numbers from that period to modern guys because the rules have been constantly changing to make it easier to pass the ball for 40 plus years. I don't think Bradshaw belongs on anybody's GOAT list but he legitimately belongs among the all time greats.

I would think because nobody has any confidence in this defense. I don't think its a shot or knock on Dak when they say that. I think its a major concern or lack of confidence in the defense. After the first mistake, Dak was damn near perfect. He was amazing, with his legs at times too. Even him being so great, we barely won the game against a backup QB. In order to win any games in the playoffs, Dak and the offense are going to have to put up 40 plus a game and play great to win games.
My opinion also, though I will add coaching is significant in the playoffs, and I don't have any confidence in our coaching staff.
So, since offense seems to be our strongest unit, the weigh falls on the most important person on the offense - the quarterback.
Is this fair? No.
Is it what is expected? Yes.

I'm not concerned with other teams QB

My concern is with the cowboys situation

And he demanded market value for an elite QB

Again the playoffs is where you earn that distinction

Nobody on our defense is making "elite" money. Why should they be held to a higher standard than Dak?

Who’s saying this? I surely hope you are not wasting your time watching those day shows where guys who have never touched a football or a too concussed ex lineman talk about the QB position.
I was wondering that too.

The team has to string together 4 straight good or even sometimes great games as an overall unit.
The QB usually has to be good but not necessarily great every game, though we would take it!

Dunno. Maybe because those people are pointing out the hypocrisy of the anti-Romo crowd and that was the standard he was held to. Knowledgeable fans have always known it’s been a team game. Rarely will a SB winning QB always play outstanding (like Aikman in 1992) and will need help along the way. Sure, they have to be good enough, but just because they don’t win doesn’t mean they weren’t good enough.

If Dak can play like he did on Sunday more often than not, then the Cowboys will have a chance to win the SB. However, if he doesn’t do that, or if he happens not to do it and other parts of the team don’t compensate (like he plays two great games, but the third plays average or less), then the team won’t. In the first case, he can be blamed. In the second he’s only partially blamed, but the latter is emphasized more because that is the bane of being the QB.
