I'm in the catagory of not being a romo fan. There are alot of Cowboy fans out there in this catagory.
I dont hate the guy personally. I would hang out with him and enjoy some converstation. I appreciate the NFL players that "make it" against all odds.
However, I had big hopes last year and knew it was a horrible decision to have him go the distance.
We essentially exchanged mobility for experience in the most important position on the team. The position where experience becomes really important late in the season.
The next time any coach inserts a rookie into a NFC east game at halftime on prime time television will be to soon.
As it turned out, Romo doesn't really have that much mobility and his lack of experience hurt the boys in the stretch run. As I predicted during October. He looked fine against teams like Tampa and carolina, but Bledsoe was looking like a hall of famer against last place teams. (Titans / Commanders)
Going forward, I'm not really sure that Romo is our future. What we have now is a 27 / 28 year old guy with average mobility, speed, and arm strength who we still consider inexperienced. It usually takes a few years to get "experienced" at the QB position. I'd rather be spending this learning time on a guy with superior talent that will be 25 when he is considered a veteran.
I've never really know what "moxie" is, but I do recognize that special characteristic that QBs have. The one that lets you know when they walk in a room. Heck, every QB in the league has that.
The real question here should be why do so many cowboy fans hate Drew Bledsoe. I'm a Troy Aikman fan, so I hated Bledsoe back when they were trying to compare him to Aikman.
I would have liked to see the season play out with him, TO, and Terry getting on the same page. Bledsoe had a lot better arm than Romo and he might have had the experience that would helped in the preparation for the December games. We will never know, but we do know how the alternative come out. Most Romo fans have chosen to discount the playoff game by just remembering the blunder at the end. In fact, the bigger blunder was the way he performed the entire game at the QB position. He either doesn't have it, or he wasn't ready. (or both)
I'm wishing Romo the best of luck this year, but planning for the worst.
