He is hated because he is overrated, and a lot of Cowboy fans think he is the next coming of Aikman. He also made the pro bowl when he did not deserve to after the miserable last few games. Not to mention the FG fumble

Who should have gone instead?

There will not be a second coming of Staubach. Likewise, there will not be a second coming of Aikman. If Romo has a successful career, he will do so based on his own abilities. Who the hell thinks he's the second coming of Aikman? I really would like to talk to those folks, but I doubt that there are very many, if any. In fact, it could simply be your imagination.

Im going through all these message boards, general NFL and team sites, and most a good 80% feel like he is overrated, and isnt that good.:bang2:
Honest question. Why do you go to other teams sites to find their opinions of Romo?

1. Glutton for punishment.
2. Looking for whiny thread ideas.
3. Feel the need to be loved by everyone.
4. Nothing better to do.

How about 2nd coming of Danny White, but w/a SB win instead?

Get real. The Pro Bowl selections have always been based on the big picture, not just December. He had a 95.1 passer rating for the season. Third highest in Cowboys history, 5th in the NFL and 3rd in the NFC for 2006 (200 attempts). He also had the highest yards per pass attempt average in the NFL at 8.61 yards. Who deserved it more?

Lot of Cowboys? Who are those? You are talking about a very small groupof fanatics, every team has those. Most of the Cowboys fans doesn't believe he is and are in "wait and see" mode. Tools like you crack me up, making up crap to support your agenda, pathetic.

Also, who should have gone to the Pro Bowl instead of him? Just anyone but Romo, right?

Not to mention the FG fumble
What does that have anything to do with being a QB? Nevermind, I'll answer it for you, not a damn thing.

I hear what you're saying, but how about the first coming of Romo--with multiple Super Bowls instead? ;)

The appropriate word to use when describing Romo should be "overhyped" and not "overrated."

He has lived up to any rating he has earned, regardless of the amount of games he's started. The stats are what they are, and they are good.

Just prepare yourself to read the low opinion of past, present and future Cowboy quarterbacks on other sites. Some of it's justified (not necessarily Romo, mind you), but there will always be a fair amount of criticism which doesn't fit the bill also.

Dont ya just love the fact that THAT possibility really drives opposing teams fans absolutely nuts to the point of pure blind hatred? LMAO

It certainly seemed that way for Merrill Hoge on SportsCenter last night. He was ripping on Romo pretty good. Especially focusing on the pick where Austin slipped.

Yet the caption on the screen said, "Offense Shines, but Defense Needs Improvement"

Yeah, Dallas' first team defense holds Denver's first team offense to 58 total yards, and 6 points, in the first half, but the team needs improvement?

Gee, I certainly hope they do improve ESPN!

I think Romo is a pretty good QB right now, not great, not very good, but solid.

Once he learns to read the coverages better pre-snap, and can try not to lock in on a target from the snap, he will be a very good QB, maybe even great. Not worried about his fumbles, not worried about his INTs at this point. That is stuff every QB has to learn and get experience with.

Seems to me he has heart, and is a solid leader of the offense regardless of his age and experience.

He can't make all of the throws well, but he is accurate with the ones he can make.

Romo seems to have the fans behind him (for his team) which is great. Forgiving and understanding that young QBs will make mistakes. He has mobility which is something the previous 2 Cowboys QBs did not have.

He also only has limited film on him for the defenses to study, an advantage at this point. I think this is a partial reason for such great early success. The more they learn the more they game plan to force QBs into situations they don't like. But at the same time he seems like a pretty smart guy who can adapt and grow.

Disclaimer: I feel pretty much the same way about Campbell. He has the same amount of upside.

That's high praise for a Cowboy coming from a Skins fan. We might as well start having his bust molded for Canton :D

What has Philip Rivers done? he hasent accomplished anything.
What has Leinart done? he hasent accomplished anything.

yet those guys don't get hated on nearly as much as Romo

they're not cowboys
and
they didn't get the media attention romo did.

the more attention you get, the more the negative will rise with it.

human nature.

Let's not get crazy here. And you left off my disclaimer. :banghead:
Typical Cowboys fan. haha.

He is good, he just isnt great, and still has a learning curve to get past, same as Campbell.

I still hope it's too late for Eli Manning and he will just suck, like he has thus far in his career. :)

I just left off the superfluous comments about a subject that is not germane to the discussion at hand (Not to mention I was trying to avoid the inevitable thread highjack that I could see coming).

I gotta go now...gotta go get prices on a bust :D
