Why do we have the same concerns year in and year out????

Cajun, you know I have the same general complaint as you - only mine is more addressed to the lack of pass rush. My secondary complaint is that so few of the young cbs here in Bill's tenure (whether inherited and gone like Ross and Hunter) or drafted by Bill but hanging on by the skins of their teeth (like Jones and Reeves) have even managed to make a reliable nickel back.

Every team in the league wants CBs -- that's no secret. We have one of the best #1s and a solid #2.

Teams throw 1st rounders at CBs all the time -- many of the picks end up being reaches. Is that the direction you want the team to go? Just making picks out of need and throwing value out the window?

heh, it happens. but some will go on and on as if they can change it if they whine enough. we all have our pet peeves that come with shorter fuses - this is just one of mine which has nothing to do with "company line pr" vs. just ain't gonna happen so wish for something else. :)

Deep down I know he won't quit being GM. I guess to me Jerry is the root for all the performance problems the Cowboys have had in the last decade.

It's just frustrating to get your hopes up every season only to have your heart ripped out after Thanksgiving and it makes me feel dumb that I ever had any hope in the first place!:( I guess that's the root of why I rant and complain! That's all!

well he is the owner and the buck has to stop somewhere. but if that root were not "interchangable" then johnson would never have had his success here. he did because of the teamwork across the board, not any 1 mans efforts. i think jimmy and jerry have learned that folly but many fans still seems to think 1 person can make or break the team.

jones has made some boneheaded decisions i his time. but we can look around and see the same from every GM out there. it happens.

this is the same jones that the "haters" said his ego would never let him hire a real coach and i always said he's a smart man and will figure it out. then he goes out and hires parcells.

do the haters see that as a sign of change? not at all. they excuse it away to keep hating on jones. he'll revert, he'll screw it up. no credit for doing what they themselves said he'd never do - the anti-jones committee can't ever do that.

the objectives ones of us see both the good and the bad equally.

we seem to be on a positive roll moreso than anywhere else in the last decade. i'm just gonna ride the wave and see how long it lasts.

till then, we'll keep trying, like all other nfl teams, to put the right pieces in the right places cause in the end, that's what wins - putting the puzzle together. not any 1 persons efforts.

I'm basically going to echo what a lot of you have been saying about not having pros at every postion but i'll add to it just a tad.

We already have a ton of 1st rounders on this defense making big bucks and we have some important contracts to address this offseason, and we will need that money to do it. Not to mention 2 1st round picks to sign from the draft next off-season.

I would LOVE to have 3 multimillion dollar Corners (and this is what it would take) to be on this team shutting every thing down. But the fact of the matter is, we have to choose where we want to be dominant at. UP FRONT, OR in the secondary.

It's the Cowboys philosophy, to put pressure on the QB, and everything else will fall into place. We basically dominated Denver with no Newman on the field "why"? Because we blitzed and confused the OLine and we were in their grills everytime the QB tried to throw the ball.

So let's relax guys, don't panic. Unless the guy just can't run deep with a player (and I hear Reeves has world class speed which Glenn didn't) then we should be okay at the CB position.

Well, Glenn's relative selflessness comes thru in that piece.

had to laugh a the "where's Mario Williams" question - since mario cashed in in an offseason crazy to pay big any corner - the sliding scale of Winfield Effect really helped him out.

did he last more than a year or two in (Tampa, wasn't it?).

But amazing how effective he looked in 03 across from a rookie corner, with of course, Darren making everyone look good that season.

Woody - there's the guy still hasn't been "replaced".
