Why does Jerry lie?

Yep, fans do miss the dead money. That’s killed the saints for years, it’s really important to spread those deals out over time so you don’t get hit with a bunch in a yrar
By the way, as expected, all the numbers shook out and we got back to even by end of business yesterday, as required by league rules

Total Cap Liabilities: $334,496,336
  • Top 51: $282,154,276
  • Team Cap Space: $1,149,634
    • Offense: $166,465,574
    • Defense: $113,936,252
    • Special: $11,350,333

  • We’ll need to find another couple million if we want to extend Aubrey.
  • Our draft class is slated to cost us $14m. Thats almost certainly going to be Quennin’s restructure.

And here’s our dead money. People want to know why we can’t have nice things? This is one of the reasons.

This is a solid breakdown, which begs the question as to why the owner of this team goes out of his way to say his wallet is bulging at the seams, and he feels the urge to spend. There is a good reason why we have all this dead money, right?

It's like that Christmas story, every time Jerry lies, a herpes pops up bigger and bigger on his lips.

Trading guys, cutting guys and, obviously, retiring guys, are expensive

As to Jerry and co., we are a cash rich team, as compared to, say, the Raiders, but Jerry operates as if we are cash poor.

He leverages his liquidity for other investments and that comes at the expense of what most would consider top tier NFL cap msnsgement.

On top of that, the two people he has in charge of cap and contracts have been here for ages and aren’t particularly good at it.

He lies because people like you think that Dak will play on a $76m cap hit.

So you get why there is no hope for this franchise, right? This has been the agenda for 30 years, and as long as he treats things like this, nothing can/will change. He's damn good at the oil industry.........His worshippers on here don't seem to understand his business strategy, and how it has been a detriment to our success

You know what, I understand we don’t have the money under the cap to do much. Daks hit on 2027 is 76 million dollars. Every year rather than tell the truth, that they have made some bad decisions on certain contracts. Jerry spews the lie “he is all in”. So free agency happens and they do nothing to improve the team. This is always followed by Stephen coming out and saying how they are happy with their trades, and how they like their guys and the resigned a key piece we are very excited about the draft and they are adding to the roster 365 days a year. It’s coming. Just for once I want Jerry to put down the Johnny walker and say straight up. That he is to blame, he is sorry for misrepresenting the franchise and he is working to shed the over burdensome contracts. He just can’t do it.
Its not about cap. He created enough cap space and has more moves to make.

He wants you to think they are cap strapped and has built in excuses.

It's about publicity, marketing, and money. I predicted mid last year that Jerry would make a splash move in FA to.show he is in. Enter stage right, Jalen Thompson.

If he was serious, he would throw a couple of extra million at Lloyd and Dean. He didn't. He wanted the publicity of them.being associated with Cowboys and milk the interest of the fans.

Now its back to usual. One year deals. JAGs. Fill the roster.

This defense will improve. When you are 6th all time worst defense there is no way but up. Couple of players. New coaches. We will improve and I guarantee at the end of next year, when we fail again he will say they new its a multi year project and work is not done.we are all in. No big signing. No FA dip. The usual.

Cowboys are run year to year, not year over year. Deal with head winds this year. Fill seats. Keep fans interested. Cha ching.

The owner literally said, he likes the drama. He likes to stir things up.

So do t for one second believe its a cap issue. Its an owner focused on maximizing profits issue

BTW why are you focused on. 2027, when we have just begun 2026.

Jerry is got you over a barrel. Cha ching

If Jerry is the true boss, why does the cheap, conservative to a fault, no desire to win, kid usually seem to get his way?

Maybe Jerry has the final say, but I don’t think he goes against Stephen all that much.

I’m just curious why the Jones think it’s a good idea to pay Dak that much money yet don’t see fit to go all out to create a great team around him.

It’s as if someone slaves for a living to acquire all this money, only to keep on slaving and not spending it.

It doesn’t make any sense.
Why? Dak had been top 5, top 10 and top 20 in Jersey sales which he cashes in on. Its ROI.

Secondly that je absolutely doesn't give a damn about who makes what. There is a.built in cost.control.with the cap. His excuse for not laying out money is future years caps. We are one of the lowest spending in FA and cash layout and have spent closer to cap floor than cap ceiling. We also hate dead cap space because it feels we are paying for the same.position twice and why do that. So lately you have seen a lot of one year deals and low round trades for m 0layers in the last year of their contract.

Its all about maximizing profits.

And all the Cowboys lemmings who refuse to see the truth buy in every year. The real fans who know better take all the smoke screens he throws in stride, knowing what his agenda is. The lead-in was fantastic as always, the plot thickened....but the show flopped at the box office.

I’ve always said Jerry uses the George Costanza defense:

“It’s not a lie if you believe it.”

Plus he’s a drunk, he can’t help himself.

I think it's more nuanced than that. Some do, some don't, some feel it's their obligation as fans to support them regardless. Some have JDS, Jones derangement syndrome, and will knock him no matter what.
I dont think there can be JDS as there is 30 years of proof that he is failing at his job.. thats not made up thats just facts.

It’s no different than elected officials and public figures attempting to spin their narratives . In effect it’s lying as well.

But if you believe the lies are true then perhaps it’s not lying.

Why do you follow the team? Such a disgusting person owns it and they have nothing but failure year after year.

I think that ALL sports owners that dont win a title after 10 seasons should be required to sell the team.

Is this last of martins money? I would think if we extended Aubrey we could structure to lower hit this year

They didn't have much dead money until they traded Osa. They're much better at managing that than other teams.

Dallas could have had anything it wanted this offseason and can still create another $30m or so by extending QW and Pickens and re-working Gary's contract.
