I’m just curious why the Jones think it’s a good idea to pay Dak that much money yet don’t see fit to go all out to create a great team around him.

It’s as if someone slaves for a living to acquire all this money, only to keep on slaving and not spending it.

I think Jerry has taken the blame. I doubt he believes it, but he has given it lip service.

It’s part of his basic character to lie. He’s been a bs’er his entire life. It’s how he does business, how he conducts himself in his relationships and how he deals with the public

He’s also a bully. Plenty of stories over the years out of the organization about that and we’ve certainly seen it in his interactions with players

Bottom liner is he is a morally corrupt human whose ego deludes him into not only believing his own lies but believing that he’s connvinces others to believe them as well.

That’s another lie they tell when they say BS like, “we will look at players that make financial sense.” You have 2 year window right now, and in the current iteration of the NFL you have to be very aggressive in acquiring talent, which means overpaying FAs and making big trades. The Rams were in the NFCCG game and what did they do? Traded for an All Pro CB and signed another one to a huge deal because that was their biggest weakness. Dallas has no good AND healthy LBs, no edges and huge questions at CB. But they signed a decent safety and traded for a past his prime, low effort edge. Ridiculous.

They don’t have money. They are still over the cap.

The lie that the team has plenty of cap room to do whatever they want is one the fans have been telling themselves for weeks (years).

Jerry is more than happy to say he’s going to “spend more” in free agency, but that’s not hard to do when over the past five years you’ve been at the absolute bottom of free agency spending (32nd).

So, fans hear that and get out their calculators and divvy up a hundred million of free cap dollars, because hey, why not, while Jerry comes out and spends $60m instead of last years $55m and calls it “being aggressive”

It wont end up at 77m and that is the big lie. They will say it limits their options while this time next year reducing it from 77 to 50-55m.
