barber has outgained julius in 2 out of the last 3 games

Bill Parcells has said himself he likes the two back set we have because Julius runs when defenses are fresh and hard to run against and that Barber usually plays last half of the game when defenses are little mored tired and yards come easier.

Not knocking Barber or even saying that everything you are saying is totally wrong, just that it is an unfair comparison.

I do wonder if BP has got on Julius into playing more inside instead of going where most of his yards came from in the preseason and that is outside the guard/tackles.

Is that true?

How does that jobe with Bill saying -- several times now -- that there are not many backs in the league who can be THE guy? He's said a few times that LJ and LT are unique backs -- and that in today's NFL you need two.

Barber sees as much time as he does because JJ is deficient. He was never a good receiver and still isn't. Then there are the injuries. It's safe to say we expected more from a high second rounder.

So Bill talking about how he was resting JJ several weeks ago for the stretch, that has nothing to do with nothing?

Oh yeah. I forgot. Players either suck or they are the next Barry Sanders.

Me, I'll take a 1200 yard season from Julius and two relatively fresh backs for the playoffs.

I'm sure we'd all love to see near 200 yard games like he did in the past -- but he's not going to have anymore 30 carry games. We drafted MBIII for exactly this reason -- so that we wouldn't have to depend on one guy to carry the load at RB.

Yet when this happens, all of a sudden folks are all "damn, Julius SUCKS"

No, thats not it at all. At least from me. I am on JJ because of his 47 yards a game average the past 4.

I think its unfair to say he sucks, but this is not the production we should expect from a Cowboy runningback. I also think people mentioning what target he is on pace for ___________is offmark too, as Eddie George a few years back had a 1000+ yards and the worst ypc in the history of the league. I want to see better from him, I know he can do it, but I dont know if he will.

I don't think he'd have any better numbers. Maybe similar numbers, but you look at Barber the same way you look at Jacobs for the Giants. Is he better than Tiki?

Yes, he's productive when he comes in. But it's largely due to the fact that he comes in fresh.

The same goes for Marion. He's a good back, but he wouldn't be as effective if he took the majority of the carries.

Parcells rotating them perfectly as far as I'm concerned.

I disagree, I think MBIII is making MORE yards with the SAME blocking and same holes and same plays. MBIII is bouncing outside when the play permits, JJ isn't. MBIII is finding more creases and running over more people. MBIII will eventually pop a big one, its always just a matter of time. JJ seems to just duck it into a pile and fall down, whereas MBIII seems to find a crease or run over someone and pick up a few extra yards that JJ is leaving on the field.

Only 4 backs in the NFL have a lower YARDS PER CARRY AVERAGE than Julius's average of 3.9. (Marion Barber is averaging 5.2). Last week Julies averaged 2.2 (I think...I know it was 2.something). He also dropped a little screen to him. He is sucking!

You guys, Julius Jones and Marion Barber are going to be Dallas Cowboys for many years to come so get used to it. They will be used as a tandem, some times they will be streaky and one will out perform another but it is probably going to be cyclical.

I don't know... Ask Bledsoe or Vanderjak or Keyshawn about being around forever. Whether Parcells likes you are not, if he can find someone better than you, then you're out. That's the great thing about him. I say if Julius doesn't get his average up and play better, BP will start looking around. He's always looking... I signed a free safety in week 12 because he didn't like what he seeing from his tandem.

Julius is 25 years old, Marion is 23. Curtis Martin had some blah years himself in his "prime", those other examples are people in the twilight of their careers with noticable diminshment in their skills.

They never made plays, Jones will gain 1000 yards this season and has three of the top five rushing performances in team history, you have not brought a valid comparison to the table.

I'm not saying Julius is going to get cut. Just that I don't think he's playing very well. I thought he looked (and statistically was) awful in the Giants game.

Julius is only in his 3rd mediocre year, so it's not like he's an established great player or anything. There's plenty of time for him to play better. But, if he gets worse, I hope we can upgrade.

I think he'll run wild this weekend and catch screen passes that go for enormous gains. Basically he'll do everything Reggie Bush is supposed to do while Bush is grounded by Ware and Newman where ever he lines up be it wideout or tailback.
