I agree. It just pisses me off when I see someone like Willie Parker absolutely shredding defenses knowing we spent a high second rounder on JJ.

I am not complaining. Our running game is producing. I will say JJ looks nothing like the back I saw in his rookie year.

Maybe that is good or maybe bad, but he definitely is not playing like he did when he was a rookie.

In a weird kind of way reminds me of what happened when Clinton Portis went from Denver to Washington. I know all about Denver's history of making average backs great, but that is not what I am talking about.

Clinton used to be this explosive big play back and now in Washington he is more of a work horse plodder. That is all my opinion of course, but that is the way that I remember Clinton P.

JJ does not appear to be the explosive cut back and go guy like he used to be.

You need good backs to rank 8th overall and 2nd in rushing TDs. That's 'common sense'. The only team with more rushing TDs is the Chargers. I guess LT must be slightly above average.

I know you're just arguing for the sake of arguing, but I have nothing better to do while I kill the last 15 minutes at the office.

Parker would be considered a stud back. When he was or wasn't drafted is irrelevant. Ask Tony Romo.

A good scheme goes a long way. Look at Denver.

You don't have to have Emmitt Smith in the backfield to have a good run game.

1st this is the small sample that counts! were in december now, its time to step it up. second maybe were in more 3rd down situations cause jones isn't doing his job.

So just feed the ball to Julius and forget about T.O., Romo, Glenn, Witten, Fasano, Crayton, et cetera?

Man, a quarterback comes in and spreads the ball around to everyone and Julius sucks.... it seems to me that you're just not able to appreciate the bigger picture that everyone is contributing to wins. The burden (or the onus as Bill calls it) isn't being placed soley on Jones' shoulders.

Pull your head out and recognize this.

We're 8-4 for crying out loud! And we've won every game in December.

Are you telling me that those wins don't count?

Then by the same logic, Marion Barber is average too, because he's splitting carries with an average back. Your reasoning is completely flawed, sorry.

your acting like julius is winning these games for us when he is doing very little lately. im saying he has to step up cause if we wanna make a playoff run, julius can't be playing like he is now. we won't be getting "WINS" in the playoffs if julius is playing like the bum he looks like right now.

Against the same Browns a month earlier Parker was 16 carries for 46 yds. He has had 2 100 yd games and 2 200 yd games; and he has had several games like the first against the Browns. 11 for 20 against the jAgs; 10 for 22 against the Ravens; 20 for 47 vs the Falcons. So its either feast or famine with him.

Sounds like Jones.

Too bad he hasn't had a big game since Christmas last year.

Sometimes - the truth hurts. :laugh2:

I think we've effectively done a nice job of debunking the myth that Julius sucks.

Sounds like the feasting is pretty damn good in Pittsburgs backfield.

Julius was drafted to be the back, not a mere complimentary back, so in that sense he's failed.

I dont think that JJ sucks, I just think he isnt good enough to be a feature back, and he certainly isnt good enough to justify that 2nd rounder we spent on him. This is just my opinion though, some see his career games against the likes of the Bears and Seahawks and say that he is the next great Cowboy back, others see the lack of consistency and want the backup to start.

I think JJ is a solid back, but at the same time it really wouldn't surprise me if we took a back in Round 1 in 2007, for instance. If the right guy was still there when we picked, I think BP would take him in an instance.

Is that the most likely scenario? No. But it wouldn't surprise me.

outside of the true haters, most people figure why mess with success. Wait untill after the season to make any evaluations. I just Hope JJ cranks it up big time, just to watch certain people choke on thier posts.

Is that true?

How does that jobe with Bill saying -- several times now -- that there are not many backs in the league who can be THE guy? He's said a few times that LJ and LT are unique backs -- and that in today's NFL you need two.
