If we end up having a pick around 20 then it will be questionable that we may have paid too much. If we have a pick in the 28-32 range then the 1st rounder is the only thing of significance to me.

Even if we stink it up this year, fact of the matter is that outside of TO, we have no WR threat, and he himself is starting to get long in the tooth.

We're in a pass first offense, and there's no guarantee a WR would have been available in the 1st round-at least not one who would make an immediate impact.

I live in Delaware and work with a lot of Philly Fans. They are so pissed at Joe Banner and Lurie for not making a deal. Tony Gonzales would have really helped their team. Roy Williams could have given them the #1 WR they have not had since TO left.

Roy has played two games against Philly in his pro career. 2004 rookie Williams caught 9 balls for 135yds and 2 tds. 2007 Roy went for 204 yds on 9 grabs with a TD(91yds). Looks like Roy loves playing the Eagles!!!:D

DeSean Jackson will have as many 1,000-yard seasons as Williams after this year and he's only a rookie. You're ignorance astounds me.

This guy is such a homer. Also, he should consider taking an English class considering he doesn't know the difference between "your" and "you're".

don't be fooled...

I know a few Eagles fans personally and, believe me, they ALL wanted ROY WILLIAMS in Philly.

It's a no brainer-if the Eagles have a #1 top flight receiver, D-coordinators won't be spying on Westbrook nearly as much.

Their current group of Jackson, Curtis, and Baskett is pretty good, but neither of them are even close to being a #1.

He wanted Roy there too so now he's acting like a scorned teenage girl since they didn't get him.

Let's see how well Calvin Johnson does without Roy Williams opposite. Detroit has no TE or running game. Teams just concentrate on defending the two WR's.

And the Eagles didn't get him because they are notoriously cheap.

There is truth to the chemistry think. Sure, on paper, Cowboys looks great, but as we know, something is missing. My fear is that they are becoming the Yankess. Sign the best players but no chemistry and no real success.

At least the Yankees have WON World Series...even after their run, they've still managed to win playoff series.

Chemistry hasn't been their problem-the lack of pitching has been their achilles heel in recent years.

If the Eagles got him, the article would say how hes one of the best in the league.

What a worthless city, I hate Philthadelphia.

Even Andy Reid had nothing but praise many months ago over Roy's abilities(this isn't the first time they tried to make a move for him-last Spring, they offered Lito).

I find it funny how Reid NOW is saying how chemistry is more important to his team.:laugh1:

lol what does that say about the Philly defenses?

RW #11 in two career games vs. the Eagles...

9 catches 204 yards, 2 tds

9 catches 135 yards, 2 TDS

This graph says it all:

He's a good receiver with the potential to be great who was mostly another first-round disappointment for a Lions franchise that has a patent on picking disappointing first-round wide receivers.

You don't think McNabb would love a good receiver who has the potential to be great?

Who maximizes their potential in Detroit? The fact he's been good -- averaging over 1,000 yards per 16 games and making a Pro Bowl -- is astounding given that he's had, what, Harrington, McMahon and Orlovsky throwing him the ball.

McNabb would help him fulfill that potential. We saw what McNabb could do with Owens, and given his accuracy problems, he could use a guy with Williams' ability to catch bad passes thrown just about anywhere.

If I'm an Eagles fan, hearing "he's good with great potential, but not yet great" is not justification for me to be happy we passed on him. In fact, it's making me fret that we just passed up on said player, who could have reached new heights on a new team, and allowed him to go to our most bitter rival.

I'm saying the Yankees now. Buy, buy, buy, no chemistry, no role players, no championships. Honestly, I coudl less about the Yankees, just trying to make a comparison.

To keep the Yankee analogy going, I think our problem, like theirs, is defense -- they have high paid pitchers who don't perform that way, we have high-paid defensive players that don't perform like their salary .

We had no offensive chemistry issues the past two years and made one offseason move -- Felix -- who obviously hasn't messed with the chemistry there. Now, the offense hasn't performed as well as it can, but I don't think it's because their chemistry is suddenly out of whack.

Roy will take a while to work in to the team, but I don't think he will throw off our offensive chemistry either.

It's more the defensive chemistry I'm worried about. That's the side of the ball where Ellis constantly gripes, Bradie says "we can't win like the Patriots; we have too many egos," Pacman is suspended, Roy's an enigma, our line has no rush, etc., etc., etc.

I think there is some merit in what the guy is saying. Roy has been great for one season but that was two years ago. Other than that he has been good. Good is not worth the premium we paid to get him. That being said, he can be great and has shown he has the tools to do it.

I am rooting for him to put it all together.

Agreed, but I think this is a case where you have to look at circumstances, too. Clearly Roy has lost some motivation, has had some injury problems and has had nothing to work with in Detroit.

I think he's a little like Leonard Davis in that he's a home-grown Texas coming home, leaving a putrid organization. He'll be motivated.

He didn't have the cast there to thrive. It's rare you see a receiver put up 1,400 yards and 10 TDs with a bottom-five QB. I think the fact he's produced as much as he has there speaks to the potential he has when paired with a good QB. And on the plays he has made, a lot of times it's him doing something amazing with a high pass in the back of the end zone, breaking a tackle and running a long run. He rarely gets gimme TD catches.

The injury thing worries me a little. He's never been severely hurt, but seems to be the kind of guy that will cramp up and miss a few games. I'm not sure that will ever change.

They pursued Fitzgerald, and Bolden during spring training, and failed to land one. I often wondered why they didn't pursue Williams. Time will tell. I think he's a good player.
