Why Has Marinelli Not Been Fired Yet?

In last 2 games................Dallas has scored 30+ points and had 400+ yards in each...........and lost both

Rest of the entire NFL when scoring 30+ with 400+ yards...............just 2 single losses

So let me get this straight, Dallas has just as many losses as the other 31 teams combined in losses putting up these offensive stats?

Like I said, why was Marinelli not fired in the lockerroom, we literally have a D so bad that all 31 other teams combined are not even this bad.

Did you watch the Cardinals game and his adjustements ?

Just because we cant stop other teams its not always the fault of one person. This is a teams sport!

I suggest you start watching tennis if you cant think in komplex ways and want to find the reasons of a loss in one person only.

The rookies are actually playing as well as you could hope. Lewis and Woods, in particular. It is the vets like Heath that are stinking it up.

I like our backfield overhaul but not having a veteran presence at safety was not a good decission. And Byron Jones is not one.

And Heath was and still is a bad player. He should not see the field at all (which btw he doesnt even if he is on it ;-).
And whats worse he is hurting our own people. The game is way to fast for him and he tries to knock people out blindly going into tackles.

Like it or not, I'm betting that a few defensive changes will be made in the offseason. Perhaps another WR with big-play ability and a LG for the o-line, if we're really fortunate. That'll probably be about it for at least another year or two. If the Cowboys' powers-that-be make that happen, many, if not most of us will be predicting big things for 2018. It's not quite the end of the world for us. Right now, it just seems like it.

I'm not knocking them.....I honestly think where the defense is at isn't as bad as it could be. Lewis got scored on but there was nothing he could do about that pass.

I think by years end we will be singing a different tune about the defense.

Never been a Kiffin or Maranelli fan....liked him as a defensive line coach but as a D.C.? No.

But he is playing with youth. Even Heath.....this is his first year but that's not his excuse. He's just not starting material. Not having anyone to come in when Sean Lee got hurt is crucial as well. Bruce Carter....for all his flaws use to come in and play some of his best football when Lee was hurt.

I dont think we will draft another OL player high. We have alot invested in the OL already. I think we will wait and see how - especially Collins - pans out at his new position. After that we will decide which way to go. Put him back at guard and test Green at RT. Bring in some backups to create competition. Maybe draft an OL in the 4th round.

But i thnik you are right. Next offseaoson will be more of fine tuning then major changing. You have to give your "new investments" tie to develop. That may hurt a bit but you cant change everything every year. You have to give things time to settle down.

They aren't firing him midseason.

I just hope they make a change in the offseason, either with the entire staff, or at the very least, a new defensive coordinator and scheme.

If this front office looks at this defense and thinks it just needs a "fine tuning" then all hope should be lost.

This defense is so far from needing a fine tuning in terms of overall talent and coaching.

I think you're probably on the right track of what to expect. If we acquire another LG, it'll possibly either come as a 3rd or later mid-round pick. Rod Marinelli likely isn't going anywhere for the time being, unless he decides to retire. Both Jerry and Stephen Jones are committed to the coaches in house for now, at least. Actually, a break-even year or less might enbolden some more-than-normal talent acquisitions, however.

Say whatever you want about Rob Ryan, but he's not wrong here. If nothing else, the man can watch film and identify issues with a defense.

And these issues are every bit as much the result of a coach and coordinator doing a piss poor job as they are of players screwing up.

It's not either/or, it's both. But it's ultimately a coach's job to make things right.

Timing....if any of the coaches get fired now, that would take away the "fall guys" that will be fired at the end of the season to save Garrett yet again.

At least Rob Ryan’s D would attempt to bring pressure...

RM should be sent into retirement...what a terrible DC...and the D in Tampa had more to do with Dungy more than anything RM or Kiffen did...

Yeah and that new one will be Eberflus............

At this point, I'd give Matt his shot. If you think he's the coach in waiting, pull the trigger now. If he succeeds? Great. You have your man and some stability. If not? You know you need a total reset. But at least you won't be wasting a second season trying to find out.

But I can't see such a change averse organization making any significant changes at this point. They'll proceed just like they did in 2015 and keep telling themselves "we'll turn this around next week".

The offensive scheme is outdated as well. Also, how many times, after a loss, did you hear someone on the other team say they knew what the next play call was?

I think that’s just the NFL. You study the game enough, it becomes quite predictable. Why do you think it’s so easy for Tony Romo to predict plays?

I've always been a Marinelli supporter. I just like the guy and feel hes never been given any real talent. He was awesome in Chicago when he had talent. Change is needed however, but if I had my choice of D.C. Or OC I would pick OC. Been wanting a new offense since Romo took over.

Because the spot light will be shone on the fo whenever the new dc cant transform this talent depleted defense into something amazing

You're talking to one of the few people who wanted Linehan gone after the Green Bay playoff game last year. When he stopped doing what got the team in the playoffs in the first place.

I was rooting for a Norv Turner reunion. At least that guy isn't physically hurt or bored by running the football.

I don't think anything less than a full coaching overhaul will fix this.

But I'm not optimistic that the Jones family agrees with me.

Ten years into "the process" and I'm still having "knee jerk reactions" apparently...
