Give him a deal like the one they gave Hardy this year. He only gets paid for the games he plays.
I like that idea a lot! Protects the team, still pays the player.

About 3.3M and 2.2M, IIRC.
Do you know what the numbers are for those 1st and 2nd round qualifying offers?
Jonathan Vilma played 10 years in the NFL with the same condition as Leary. Vilma had a knee injury at the end of his career but I don't know if it was due to the OCD condition or if it was even in the same knee. He was 31 when he retired. Leary is 26. Leary's condition is not really degenerative in that it might not be any worse right now that it was when he was drafted. Is is more of an all or nothing type of issue. It could pop and he would likely need micro-fracture surgery or it could be fine indefinitely.
Leary is a Restricted Free Agent next season. I expected him to be here through the end of 2016.
Free had foot/ankle surgery in both Jan 2014 and Jan 2015. He is now 31.
It's a coin flip as to which one will be on the team longer. Obviously, the progress of Collins, Green and possibly Weems could impact those decisions.
BB said he didn't see him playing tackle he's more of a guard
Leary will be a Restricted Free Agent.
Do I need to explain the difference between an Unrestricted Free Agent and a Restricted Free Agent?
why is he restricted when after this season he would have 4 years experience? I get that several outlets have said he will be restricted and he was an EFA last year, but I don't get why. Did 2012 not count? I know he was released at some point, but I always assumed it would still count
Was he wearing these at the time?

The Cowboys make Broaddus wear one of these because the old style dunce hats are too similar to a known hate group's hat.

It's a good problem to have.
Personally I don't know why so many keep disrespecting Ronald Leary so much. He can play.
Leary has a degenerative knee problem. There is nothing special about his play. Collins grades out as a better guard prospect then tackle. Free is signed for 3 more years. The 3rd round pick we drafted this year is also a tackle. Leary's contract is up this year. Those are 6 reasons why it all makes sense for Collins to replace Leary and not Free.
1. Leary will be restricted.
2. It would save cap space next season to keep Leary and cut Free.
3. Leary is a better player than Free.
4. The biggest need right now is a backup OT. In theory, Collins should be the best option as the backup OT. Free could be the backup if Collins wins the starting job.
5. Leary has not had any problems with his "bad" knee.
6. Jonathan Vilma had the same knee condition as Leary and he played 10 years in the NFL.
7. Free is 31 and has had 2 foot/ankle surgeries in the past 18 months.

I'm surprised you lowered yourself to taking a cheap shot.
Thought you were above that, man.
